Uncontrolled dogs (again)

Your right it is a useful leaflet, train your horse not to react, keep calm and don't shout.

It all depends on your perspective !

One does not negate the other though.. I believe 4x4's point is that if your dog will not reliably recall, have him on the lead.

An equally valid point is training your horse not to react, and to keep calm yourself, as the rider.

Both are important, but on balance keeping dogs with a poor recall on a lead is probably the more so. It would be absolutely impossible to train a horse to never ever ever react in response to a dog attacking or chasing it out of the blue, for instance.

Train dogs to recall if they dont keep on leads,
Teach your horse not to react .
Teach yourself or get taught to be a very secure strong rider , don't ride out with your stirrups too long .

What she said' plus don't waste police time reporting dogs who do recall and pass your horse.
