Hi everyone, although this is pretty early I'm trying to think about what I will do horsewise when I'm in uni. I don't own/loan a horse and I never have, and been having lessons weekly for about 6 years. I would love to be able to do some riding when I'm at uni, but don't know if it will be possible because of money and time. What have everyone's horsey experiences been when they were students?
Thank you

The majority if unis will have a riding club, so they'll organise riding and socials and things. I loved being in my uni riding club. We also had a price deal with the RS so it was more student budget friendly
Look out for them at freshers fair =)

Yep, and some also run competitions with other unis so after you join the club you can try out for the team :)

I'm a first year Uni student at the moment.

Basically all Uni's have a riding club! At Uni you tend to have Wednesday afternoon's off and this is for sports. So riding club most likely will be set in this time slot.
My riding club is half an hour away so you car share and pay say £4 for the journey and then the lessons are discounted so at my Uni it was approx £22.50 ( something in that region I haven't actually joined but had one lesson).

You can also do competitions and you will find having lessons on different horses could help you as you get put on different horses and have to do at DR test and SJ. If you are on the team you have to go twice a month at least.

However you can also give another sport a try! I have a horse at home but at Uni i am in the polo club! Very friendly and very exciting! However this is £35 a session (And car share money needed) and very expensive when you want to compete in competitions ( I don't!) polo also has weekend sessions you can do as well.

Yeah as others have said, most uni's have riding clubs, ours was only started this year but we have already had activities such as polo and we are now trying to arrange lesson plans and deals with local riding schools and we hope to have a team next year. If your uni doesn't have a riding club you are often allowed to join a club at another uni and just not compete for them (if you are in an area with more than one uni).
I also looked for ads online of people wanting help and wrote on here that I was a student looking to ride and I was lucky to find someone who just wanted someone to ride with as and when, but it can be hard for me to find enough time to go.
