He's so handsome, I always enjoy looking at your photo updates.
Yikes, didn't mean it to come across like that, just meant wiggling the bits around sometimes helps! I just find if a horse becomes heavy in the double, switching back to the snaffle usually helps!!! Was not implying anything about your riding!!! lol absent mindedness on my part, anyhow clearly not that, didn't realise your girl had been riding him a snaffle!
In fairness to you, that is all I thought you meant to begin with, so was rather confused by the slightly catty response! I suppose it is easy for things to get misinterpreted on here.
I'm not having a dig per se, but I am confused.
He's not in pain according to your poking and prodding, fine.
But, he's not right. You know it, you feel it and you can see it, but you won't get the vet out soonest, rather wait a week to see if he comes right with more work.
I may be soft, etc. etc. etc. (I'm sure some on here could find words to suit), but if he were mine, my vet would be out to check him over and take bloods. I'd rather the cost than having a horse that usually looks and feels pretty good, feeling like he does at the moment.
As I said, not a dig as such, though reading back it probably comes over that way, but definitely confused.
I haven't read all the replies, BUT, this is really interesting to read.
Holz has been very much the same lately, including stopping at jumps, then crashing into one. VERY out of character.
Now, I think you are local to me - you go to VV & Brooksby, which are close, hence drawing that conclusion.....I wonder if there is a virus going round locally? Last 'social outing' for us was Aylesford in May, but others on the yard have been out & about all over the place.
My 3yr old has also had a swollen face, that I spoke to Jane @ Chine House about, but no temp. Now OH's TB has a lump on his face too that is puffy. I am waiting for Lucielle from Chine to ring me back today.
It's got the be that pink, theres nothing else for it...try a different colour and report again!
Of course riding him was necessary, but now you have ridden him, and said yourself that he is not right, felt awful etc, what I would do was get the vet out, to rule out any medical issues. I am not you, and you are of course free to do whatever you think is best, but I was just giving you my opinion on what I would do in your situation.NP - Sorry, but how am I meant to know how he really is unless I ride him? He is a little bit slower in the stable and less cuddly at mo but other than that no change, so how am I meant to know if there is any change for the better or worse unless I get on and ride?
