Unrealistic (lots of stars inserted here)

Some people are just the pits & don't deserve animals :( Apart form blatant cruelty, I also hate it when folk get totally unsuitable breeds eg. if you live in a flat, don't get a GSP, get a peke!! Feeble excuses because they haven't done their homework don't wash with me & some people do also just give up too easily. 10 years ago when i rescued a young staffie x from a dog home, i discovered soon after that she was four weeks pregnant & i still stuck by her & helped her raise her pups (she decided at 4wks old they were a bit too much for her!). It was kind of a BOGEF (Buy One Get Eight Free)! She's now a lovely old (if stone deaf) lady in her Twilight years. Yeah, she's a senile old bird, barks at night (which is when canines with dementia tend to be most confused), often just forgets that she has to go outside to do her business, has an inoperable thyroid tumour the size of a tennis ball, but she's happy, so i'm happy! Oh, & the 8month old lurch who was left behind to dodge the traffic by the gypsies (no doubt because he has skin allergies), had never worn a collar, never mind walk on a leash, was dog & food agressive, he's still here too & pushing 11years old! My dogs are my life - I wouldn't swap them or give up on them for the world, despite being highly allergic to them!
 
If you dont have the right colour dog for your furniture you change the carpets and furniture to match the dog easy
Mind you the cream carpets were the reason I was turned down by rescue so I suppose it works both ways.

Oh wow what a beautiful animal , i will swap you for a jack russel that just decided to empty her anal glands all over the cream carpet ? smells like a fish mongers in there, was scheduled to have them done tomorrow :( ew

i must warn......he does blend into the tile floors lovely...(dark ones)!, steals bog rolls, glasses and other naughties...

he eats stones (which the bill is now in fact £3500.........)

has a massive lump on his shoulder from karate bashing the table..........another vet bill

£800+ bill from his wonky front legs

Dalmation x Wolfhound being rehomed AGAIN @ 15months as too bouncy:confused: WTF did they expect? **bangs head**

Molly is a lovely girl who we rehomed 3 months ago when her previous owners could no longer keep her. She is 15 months old.
Unfortunately, although she is extremely loving, we are finding her too big and lively around our young children. She doesn't bite but knocks them over and she could do with a home with someone who has time to teach her some manners.
She is learning and we have taught her to sit and count to three before eating her food, so there is potential for further training. She is toilet trained and has never had an accident. She is gentle and takes treats without snapping for them.
We are very sad to see her go but we have a young toddler and a disabled child and we cannot wait for her to calm down. When she does calm down she will be the perfect dog.

Throw not an issue - that was @ a holiday cottage (dogs not allowed on the beds...................oooops!!).:D

Beautiful male staffie for sale. Alfie is 8 years old and has been with us for 3 years. He is brindle and very well behaved. Likes to lounge around a lot. Unfortunately we have 3 kids and can't give him the attention we used to. He really is a loving and loyal dog and will be very sad to see him go. He gets on great with both kids and pets and hasn't one bad bone in his body.

I think so, they put his little photo up sideways on too. People should need a licence to get any pet. I see it with friends neglecting guinea pigs and rabbits and hamsters - they seem to think it's acceptable for the novelty to wear off and the pet be neglected. It so angers me :( The novelty wore off for my son for our gps months after they were bought, but I care for them very much and wouldn;'t dream of not buying them their fresh veg and cleaning them out regularly and putting them in their run. Mine evn have a heat lamp for their run :)
You buy a pet for life, I have persisted with our difficult patterdale, he's our responsibility.

I'm forever grateful the we took Zak cos I reckon he'd have been in lots of homes by now, in rescue or probably PTS. Hugely dog aggressive, very energetic, naughty, disobedient, he drove me mad for about a year but we persisted, because we chose him. It wasn't his decision, he didn't knock on our door begging to come in. Now he has a job to do, he is brilliant! :)

Sadly, he doesn't match anything in the house. :( Perhaps I should put in black and white tiles? :p
 
Or *you* must permanently wear black and white clothes? Then you are both more of a *purposefully* clashing accessory to the decor,rather than just a clash..? ;)

Ps, My mam had another call tonight, one more shocking then I care to even try and think about anymore than I have because im so angry I could combust:mad: I will tell you something though I wish she has the money these "bigger charities have" for what she deals with "with no staff or help at all in any way shape of form excpet "me" (suppose thats a punishment in it's self;).
I will maybe share the last call for when im in a less futile mood.:mad:
 
PMSL at the 'bouncy dog' reason for rehoming. I used to loathe our old bitch. She used to just walk up to me and splat me with one paw, knock me over then run away wagging her tail. She also used to pinch food straight out of my hand.
I spent a lot of time sitting on the top of the sofa trying to avoid her (I would have been about six) Mum just laughed and told me to stand up straight and be quicker than her. She grew to be my best friend!

I must admit this really annoys me also.My neighbours over to road bought a GSD pup a few months ago.They live in a small bungalow,with a small garden,they are both elderly,one of them very overweight and has mobility problems due to it.
They do no training with the dog,hardly ever walk it and then complain when it's naughty and they can't manage it.
Even in the garden the poor thing is on the lead (they said he wouldn't come back in so keep him on a long lead now),and because they have to stand outside with it is only ever out for couple of minutes.I can understand BTW that some dogs need to be trained on a long line but this is not for training purposes,in fact quite the opposite it's because they can't be bothered to train it:mad:
It has no socialisation with other dogs (pulls on the lead and jumps up biting their legs etc when out so they no longer like to take it out),no manners with people,and to me seems like a very wound up and frustrated dog.I can also see signs of aggression in it's behaviour,which is understandable but a shame,especially as the breed is often misunderstood in this aspect already.

I get so irritated by it,they are a really nice old couple,just made a stupid choice of pet,but I am finding it difficult to speak to them now as i just want to tell them they are doing wrong by this dog,but that's not my place or my business to be fair.Find it very upsetting though.I grew up with GSD's and know they're lovely dogs but they do need some handling and exercise at the very least.

See now that scenario I don't think is unreasonable,and could be a genuine mistake.

Having an Irish setter I can sympathise with the jumping up and bowling over.I have to crate mine when my grandson visits as it's just too risky.

It might not sound like a big deal and maybe they thought it wouldn't be a huge issue or they could train the dog out of it,but have found it's not working out and the kids are getting scared or hurt??

I see what you mean that they should have thought it through a bit more,but it does sound a bit more feasible and maybe more honest than many others have read here.
 
Piebaldsparkle- she would fit in well here, my kids are used to getting taken out occasionally. I wonder if they would swap her for a Dane that farts as if he is waging chemical warfare on us whatever he eats. Honestly it's eye watering!
 
A friend of mine has just been asked to foster a bearded collie who is almost 13 years old.

Reason - they want to go travelling. Apparently they did delay a bit thinking dog wouldn't go on much longer.....

What scum.

If I HAD to emigrate and had a dog that old, that is what I would do (if there wasn't a trusted family member for him to go to).

Mine keeps eating cat poo out of the turdis before I can get there in time which results in him vomiting everywhere....any takers?
 
Vicstress cannot quote on phone but our jack used to do this, we eventually sprinkled the cat poo with chilly powder he wouldn't even sniff it ended that problem :-)

Also 'turdis' - love it!!

All of mine eat chicken poo, that has to be grounds for sending them back surely?? Plus they have just dismantled the settee, which they didn't match anyway. Can I swop them for one of those sweet little dogs which empty the washing machine for you and go to the cashpoint too? But I don't want to have to actually train it.................
 
When I was looking for No 2 stafford when No 1 sadly died I specifically wanted a dog that could hack out with me. Welfare said they couldn't guarantee that, they would do their best but what would I do if I couldn't train my new stafford? I thought about it and then said I would lump it if my new dog wouldn't do that. Guess what, I couldn't hack her out. She has (very rare) real dog dislikes and I can't risk it. It is incredibly annoying as she is the most easy going dog .99% of the time. She has randomly gone off twice and meant it so our days of off lead walking are long gone. No 3 was all set but developed elbow displaysia from a poor start. I had given up but no 4 actually WILL hack out.. and is pretty brilliant about it. Lucky it wasn't the be all and end all... thought I do rather envy the people who can have a mammoth hack and then don't need to go out again with their dogs!
