Unusual Marks - Any Ideas?

I wondered if anyone could identify what these marks might be caused by. Horses on the same yard (dressage). Many thanks.

aren't they just whorls? my horses look the same in their summer coats

Initial guess was sweat lines on working horses that over time bleach the hair to a streaky look - as the horses you see this on are dark haired.

But the shape/pattern of the lines are like rings, maybe too uniform for sweat lines...as if theyve been leaning up against something that’s marking them...?

Interested to hear others thoughts!
