We have a cockeral strolling round the yard and guarding the office, knowone knows where is from, its not scared of people but its not friendly either! Its very pretty so not yopur usual farm yard cockeral and there are no farm round here any way, what should we do with it?

Ooooh thats strange, he must have come from somewhere. Maybe someones garden perhaps? All I can think is calling rescue type place  Sorry not much help :)

peel some potatoes & heat up the oven :D

no, sorry, put it in a travelling cage / box and take it to the nearest RSPCA or local animal rescue.

If you want to keep it, put up some notices in the local shops / post office in case it has just wandered off

Gypsies dumped a cockerel at our yard...with the hens (oops)

However it is a magnificent looking beast so I guess we'll be keeping him.

If he doesn't have somewhere safe to go at night, then its only a matter of time before Mr Fox solves your problem for you anyway...

if he doesnt have somewhere to roost at night then you could put a house type thing out for him with some feed in it.... bits of bread/cereal/pasta will do if you dont have chicken feed. Then come dusk he will hopefully go in. I found with all mine that once they are roosting/asleep and its dusky, you can just open the door and pick them up.

Meet chuck, who is now safe and settled in our hoorsebox for the night, (only place we had spare where no foxes or dogs would get him!!

Oh he is lovely, my chicken breeds poster is in my sons bedroom and he's asleep so I'll look in the morning but there could be some light sussex in there ?

Hes a motley mongrel, but a handsome one! Maybe Rhode Island Red x Light Sussex? Would say a bit of wyandotte but his comb is wrong.
Hes an allsort!
