Visited yesterday and today and the progress between the two days is very noticeable. We were thrilled yesterday because we watched her having her physio session (now down in the gym) and she walked the length of the room twice - with help - then played Connect 4 and won. She pulled out the tube up her nose so her Mum told her off. Then the doc came and she told him she'd pulled it out because she didn't need it. He agreed and she said to Mum 'see, I told you'. She gave us a running commentary on the Aintree foxhunters as she was the only one who could hear (or see the race) properly on the TV above her bed. Told us the champion jockey didn't do well and she would have beaten him.
Today she was having her physio session when we arrived so we watched for a bit and she is much steadier than yesterday. She told the physio she wants to be walking unaided by Monday. Then later, we were in the day room watching the racing and I noticed her hitch herself more upright in the chair - she wouldn't have have been able to do that yesterday. She managed with very little difficulty to eat 3 Waitrose profiteroles and her speech is much less slurred.
On Monday, she is moving downstairs to the Lewin Rehab ward (but she calls it the Lewinatic Ward) which is next door to the gym and on the ground floor so she reckons she'll more easily be able to do a runner.
She is getting on so well that none of us (or the medics) can quite believe it but not sure how realistic she's being when she (still) keeps telling us she's going home tomorrow.
