Anyone thats read - http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=604084 will know that scruffy little pony was due to arrive yesterday! Here he was when we viewed him -
We were literally handed his passport and told "Good luck with him, hope you enjoy him" Nothing else asked! So we toddled off down the lane with him to the horse trailer. -
We had thick bandages with us for his legs and tail but they were alien to him so forgive the state of them! We did them as fast as we could so he wouldn't stress. We stroked the rug on his nose and slid it on and although he looked disgusted he was fine!
The second we put him in his makeshift stable last night (he's in there until he's been gelded etc.) he went down and rolled, got up, had a drink and rolled again! He was in heaven.
How I found him this morning -
This morning farrier came at half 8 for a trim. He clearly had no idea what was going on but he was fine, bless him! After his feet we put him into the field for half an hour on his own. Queue farting, bucking, lamb spinning, rearing, rolling, galloping, cantering.. the lot!
We gave him an hour brush over last night but we didn't really get anywhere so we decided if we got a warm enough hour today we'd bath him. Queue 5 of us working flat out for an hour and a half!!! There was pieces of poo on him so hard they couldn't even be squeezed. Some clinked as he walked! This is him this morning -
After his bath -
After his bath we walked him around the yard and he kept catching sight of himself if the windows and whineying at himself!
He has what I'm thinking is rainscald (although I may be wrong so please tell me if so! Also suggestions welcomed!). So will have to sort that out! -
Chilling out after his last blast round the field of the day -
Some final pictures -
We've settled on the name Bailey. He isn't ask skinny as I thought he may have been. He needs more of a shine than anything! He's got a fantastic nature and I hope we will find him a new home with ease come July/August
