My saddle was re flocked by one saddler, then i had flair put in by another one, neither of them sold me the saddle. Surely if it was dodgy then one of them would have noticed and said something, as both know i would have bought another, so would have been in their interests.

Can't answer that one as I wasn't the one re flocking.
Maybe they didn't notice or thought it not a problem, maybe it wasn't made like this, don't know.

Really interesting thread running here - I had a very well known make of saddle purchased second hand and fitted by Master Saddler.
I noticed white hairs after a few months and felt we weren't going forward. Always felt I wasn't sitting straight but told it was the shape/going of my horse.
Got another fitter who pointed out uneven flaps, twisted panel, poor stitching. Managed to sell saddle back to fitter without saying why, but at a loss.
Now have new saddle and hope it's not on your list but would be interested to see!
Please pm me the list when you have a moment!

Hi,
Very interesting - thank you. Please could you pm me 'avoid' list too.

My new boy isn't going to grow into my saddles so am looking to buy new ones.

I have recently had a tree replaced on a very expensive English saddle made by a well known gentleman
