for those who need a reminder.... It's Here
I went and clipped the horse tonight. the lady said to me as I arrived that the girl who normally does him (has gone travelling) normally sedates him because he's a fidget. She then said that she can't clip him herself because he 'panics', and that she had the sedalin if I wanted it (for me or the horse I wondered!)
I said I wanted to see his reaction, and my clippers are dead quiet so that might help if he's nervous. turned on clippers and he snorted and kinda walked about on the end of the leadrope. Decided it was nervy anxiousness and proceeded quietly and calmly without the sedalin.
2 hours later and horse was fully clipped (inc his face) and hogged and was standing with his bottom lip dropping and eyes shut. Job Done. He'd even let me trim around his boy bits, under his armpits and all over his face.
OK so it wasn't the quickest I've ever clipped a horse, but it was a tidy job and the only person who got stressed was the lady and only at the beginning cos she thought her 15.2hh TB was going to squash not so little me...
and the lady gave me an extra £20 as she was so impressed with how I'd handled him. think I may have done the horse (and hopefully myself) some favours there!
