Headshaking horse was diagnosed with chronic sinusitis. He was on steroids for about 5 weeks which helped. He stopped headshaking for almost 2 weeks but he has constant nasal discharge and the headshaking has started to return.

Vet has recommended a sinoscopy to have a look inside and hopefully flush out any blockages. A hole has to be made in his head through the bone to access the sinus  The surgeon will be at the clinic on June 1st so he will do it then. Fingers crossed that this will sort out the problem.

I'm bringing him for a group ride with XC jumps on Wednesday (his favourite thing). Anyway, onwards and upwards.

A horse at work had a sinus drain OP. It was fine. I mean, the horse looked like a space alien with tubes etc going into his head, but it healed up beautifully and he was fine afterwards.

Poor thing, he must feel rough, I know mine did. He was in the equine hospital for a week, two holes in his head and flushed twice daily. The amount of gunk that came out was incredible! He had in total four weeks of ABs, a few weeks off and then gentle work afterwards. Full recover and no recurrence.

It's great to hear there was no recurrence. It's at the stage with mine that it's time to do it. We gave the steroid treatment a good chance so this is the next step
