They now have the pup , 9 weeks old , little sweetheart , she has now been left today from 8.30 . it is now 7.30 , there is definalty no one going in during the day. She has been pulling the fluffy loft insulation out of the brick work and chewing it, ob there's poo and wee all over, The bloke was moaning about her to me over the garden fence the other night, said he did'nt realise it would be so hard, thought she would be house trained . so angry , i offered freindly advice without sticking my nose in , loft insulation is very harmfull if eaten , do i mention this to them ?

It will cut her insides to pieces ,so of course they should know. One of mine that I retrieved back died of just that a year after he got back home.

Aw poor little scrap. :(

At only 9 weeks old I would say it could be left at a maximum of 4 hours.

I don't understand why people get a puppy when they are going to leave it home alone all day. It makes me mad

Yes, tell them, not for their sake (they're idiots) but for the pups. Things are only going to get worse:(

Yes will tell them tactfully , pretty obvious i have been peeking through the gap in my fence to make sure she is ok but what the hell !!!

poor wee mite. Doesn't sound like a loving home for her at all. I'd be most concerned too.

Can you offer to at least have a 20 min play with her in their garden and give her some lunch? Going that long without a meal, after having just left the litter can't be good for her tummy? As for the loft insulation - SERIOUSLY? Sounds like the owner doesn't have much of an IQ.

What a couple of imbosils....I would probably not even offer to let the pup out (harsh), but I would hope they will rehome her, she cannot surely end up in a worse scenario than she is now. You did say this would happen and indeed you where correct. a for see a large vet bill coming for them soon.
Whoever sold them that pup need a damn good *******ing:mad:

Poor puppy, I find it very sad and makes me realize just how lucky my dogs are! Thats no life for an animal being left eleven hours all alone, regardless of the age.

As my OH knows them and we have the occasional chat on the drive i did offer to let her out for them , they just said ' thanks ' but as yet have'nt taken me up on it, hubby told me not to offer any help . there pup there problem attitude , they leave a big bowl of food i suppose to last her all day , now after 8.30 still on her own . I do wonder about her sanity , i have a pup at the mo and a great deal of socialising and training is done with him , introducing him to diff places , and situations , surely if a pup is left for hours everyday they will develop behaviour issues ?
Bloke said he tried to take her for a walk the other day to wear her out but she would'nt walk on the lead [ she's 9 weeks old remember ] i did mention that she not able to go yet and that she does'nt need a great long walk !

People really amaze me sometimes! Hopefully they realise they're in over their head and rehome the poor bugger

Of corse she wouldnt walk on a lead, shes a baby, they need to teach her! What are these people like!

I got a new pup recently (well hes 6 months now) I normally only walk in the forest on routes that we rarely see another living soul so his first few walks were on a flexi lead. My partners mum decided to walk him while I was at work, this was when he was nine weeks or so, never been asked to walk to heel on a lead at that point, so he did what most babies do, panicked and sat on his arse. Rather than persevere, she picked him up and carried him to the field!!! When I got home told me he doesnt like the lead and I wouldnt get him to walk on it.....ten minutes later hes trotting alone beside me on his lead, good diggy!

Do they leave the puppy alone for 12 hours every day???

To me that's cruelty and I'd be tempted to report it as such. Difficult though I know as they're your neighbours. The environment is clearly not suitable either and placing the puppy at risk. Can you imagine, presumably having very recently been with mum and litter, how bewildered, lonely and bored that poor pup must be? Breaks my heart :(

Thinking about it - would it be good idea to ring RSPCA about it now?? do you hear the puppy at all during the day? perhaps a visit from an inspector will wake them up a bit?

Not normally left this long , normally from 8.30 till 5.30 , still too long in my mind, he is home now and i have told him about the insulation [ he had'nt even noticed ] breaks my heart too , no way could i leave mine that long feel guilty going out for a couple of hours !

Just what I was thinking. RSPCA probably wouldn't do anything as not a case of abuse/neglect per se, but perhaps if the neighbours were to get a call from an inspector after an anonomous complaint, they might have a quick re think

That is just no way to keep a dog

Only heard her barking on one occasion , prob cos mine were playing on the patio, i would expect more noise as she gets bigger .

Please call the RSPCA for a visit... surely they will see it as cruelty when they themselves will only let you have a rescue puppy provided you are at home to look after it ....poor puppy... :(

Poor pup, when I think of how much Evie's 2 love to play and be with me, the thought of a pup of the same age being left on her own all day is so sad.
Don't suppose the RSPCA would do anything, although it is a very good point that they, or most other rescues, won't rehome a dog where it is going to be left for more than 4 or 5 hours maximum.

Poor little pup, I have waited for 13 years to get another dog because my circumstances were not right for a dog. Now I don't have to work, we have got the most beautiful labrador pup. He's now coming up to 12 weeks and is never on his own. I do sometimes shut him in the kitchen for 10 minutes, just to get him used to being left on his own but he knows that I am still in the house. He walks very happily on a lead and is just about house trained. The occasioal accident but he's still a baby. It's a pity there isn't another dog rescue authority apart from the RSPCA. We all know what they're like!! I do think you need to call somebody about him being left for so long. As for eating fibreglass, it's lethal and he will be very ill. Good luck sorting that one out.

Poor puppy :-( Maybe this loser will get to a weak point during a driveway chat and you could be like 'I'd sure understand if you were thinking about getting rid, I'll help you rehome her!' grab puppy and run to nearest dog rescuing authority! Poor thing :-(

What sort of dog is it? Maybe suggest they look at some forums? Or recommend a good dog walker who will come into break up the puppies day and help with loo breaks? I know my dw does that for a couple of her customers so that the puppies get a break too?

Poor little pup - really not getting the right start in life. :(

As an alternative to the RSPCA, what about a call to your local dog warden?

When one of our neighbours persistently let her young terrier run loose on the main road, and after I'd witnessed a couple of near misses with cars, my hubby called the dog warden, who went to visit them and had a chat about it.

It must have worked because they always take it out of the house on a lead now for walks.

(They did realise who called the warden though! Hubby runs a dog boarding business, and has his car sign-painted. A few days after we'd called the warden, we heard the neighbour muttering to her daughter, as she gesticulated towards us, 'Bet it was them that called the council!' I didn't care because at least we didn't have to scrape the dog off the road after it had been hit by a car.)

The puppiy is a cocker spaniel , i have offered to let her out in the garden at lunch time, i'm here most of the day so can keep an eye on her , they seemed to like the idea but as yet have'nt took me up on it .
The insulation has been made safe though , that's something i suppose !

Knock on their door - tell them puppy is crying a lot.

good oh remember your other thread when people said its none of your business it's everyone's business and social responsibility. Let's hope they don't put her in a crate for 8 hours a day.
