As some of you know in mid February I had a nasty fall off a baby. At first I was told I would have to be in bed for six weeks in hospital and that riding would be out the picture until June/July.

Well... 11 days later I was out of hospital, and am now having physio 5 times a week, as well as access to a hydrotherapy pool. The doctors are pleased with my post-op xrays which show much quicker healing than expected, and my pins are looking good. SO, they've told me I have to be on crutches, but can now slightly weight bare, until April 25th, and after that date I can begin riding again!

This gives me three weeks of preparation before the Under 18 Championships at Chepstow. I can fit in an IN run at Aston-le-Walls a few days beforehand too. I'm in a very lucky position in that the horse is being kept ticking over and fit, and my trainer will take him on in April for more schooling too. I've also been given free gym membership by my local sports centre (!) so at the start of April I can start getting my own fitness back. Add to this the free psychology sessions I've been given with Nicky Heath, (Pippa's sport person,) and the two new hats I'm getting from Champion because they heard that my hat had cracked open... and I'm *hopefully* well on the way to Chepstow, and then *hopefully* two star qualifications!

The only problem is that we will have to pay the massive entry fees etc before I've even started riding, and since one of the bones I broke was my bum bone, sitting is pretty painful! But I'm sure in another month it will be fine!

Good luck and I hope you achieve your goal. You may find that 3 weeks after coming off crutches is not long enough however. I speak from experience! Dont push your future health for the sake of one event, its not worth it.

Good luck with your recovery. You sound really motivated and thats half the battle!

Sounds like a fantastic plan!! I am sure that you can do it!! Wishing you the very best of luck with it all!!

Am sure that you know already, but when you are able to, lots of Pilates exercises and core stability exercises would help you loads with preparing you for riding again.

Who is your trainer BTW?

I am very impressed by Team Tom who are putting you back together. I am also very impressed by your will power and guts. Two free hats very jammy!

Wishing you the best of luck as I am sure that I can speak for everyone is saying that we are rooting for you in managing it.

Thanks guys. As you say, it gives me something to aim for, and MerlotMonster, you're completely right... it's crucial that it heals well for the future, so if its too much then I will stop!

Ouiga_Board - my trainer is Angela Tucker (and Rodney Powell.)

Get you and your support system!

Good luck with it - I have everything crossed for you, and the outlook sounds much brighter. Can you get special dispensation from BE to use a big fat Heather Moffat seat saver too?!

Well I think it's bl00dy brilliant to have a goal/aim especially after having such a nasty accident, you can do this with guts and determination and it sounds like you have them in abundance.
