For those of you that didnt read the original post it is here!

http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/sh...rue#Post4486793

The vet came back out this morning to remove the bandage and have a good look at the cut.
The vet was fairly certain that it was down into the joint on his first visit but after having a look today he thinks we have been lucky and the fluid that was coming from it on Thursday was just a bit if serum from where the blood had clotted and not joint fluid afterall

He was still a bit concerned that the hock was still swollen, but he had put 50mls of saline solution into the joint to flush anything out - but as it wasnt down to the joint the saline was still in his leg so that has been drained - again he is fairly certain it was just saline but has taken a sample to make sure its nothing nasty.

SO, after one week of owning him and him having about 12 hours in the field before he damaged himself

He isnt lame but i just have to keep an eye on him in case he does go lame - but that would mean bad things - so fingers crossed my pony is now on the mend!

And a pic just because he is cute!

Glad to hear he's been OK'd to go back outside. I hope the tests all come back saying nothing serious. They drive you mad don't they, my old girl decided to throw herself at the floor the first night we left them out !

I saw your originial post but did not have time to reply, sorry!!! He looks absolutely wonderful and I am so glad he is on the mend. The first few days turned out in a new herd is such a tough time, I've had a brand new horse kicked to shreds despite taking all precautions, so I can really feel for you! Hopefully you will be able to ride him soon.

Re forum clout, don't really know what to say!! My main problem is that I don't remember names very well so I get confused over who is who!

He is absolutely stunning!
Fingers crossed he stays sound and well. What a way to start ownership of him.
You managed to do the injections?
Nickie

Glad to hear he is on the mend

I know what you mean about new horses, with Ted he has been off more than on what with injury, tack stealing and now conjunctivitis!!!

However I have a new saddle and insurance are out on Weds so fingers crossed they pay out! Just had a delivery of new bridle, etc, so am raring to go...once Monkey can see clearly!

Oh that is such good news. May he continue to recover quickly and not do him self any more damage. He looks a very nice horse. Good luck.

He is a project of sorts - but will only be sold if he isnt what i want if you get me? ie he hasnt been brought just to sell on.

The other one is fine - he had to stay in too as they are a pain to separate so its a huge relief to get them back out!

pooryou- i have only just come on line fora few days.... sorry to hear he hurt himself glad it wasnt too horrid, he is totally stunning tho - and probably going to be a total superstar!

Yay so pleased that he is on the mend, and fingers crossed he makes avery speedy recovery... I bet J was delighted to get back out lol! The picture on the other thread with him led down with his bandaged hock, he just makes you got aaaawww!! You should post the picture of him last summer, where he is stifling a yawn
