Evidently there is an urgent appeal for anyone with horse transport in this locality to rescue 40 or so horses who are at risk if the dam near Rotherham bursts. Radio Sheffield is asking the horse world to put the word out. Although the road is currently closed they are allowing horse transport in and out. Will post link to appeal as soon as possible.
Please contact anyone you know in this area!

Phone number for Radio Sheffield who will give you rescue co-ordinators details 0114 279 6699.

seen the piccys of this on the beeb website - it looks very very serious as they've close 4 juncts of motorway which will be flooded if the dam bursts and there is also a risk of high voltage pylons being pushed over into the water if the dam bursts

they are atm pumping water out of the reservoir and trying to shore up the dam. As a chartered engineer this is something that will not be technically easy to do at all

if anyone can help - please do

They're talking about it in detail at the moment on the radio, sounds as though it will be totally horrific if it bursts... 46ft deep and 25 miles wide

That's a lot of water, to put it mildly.
Have put a link to this thread in the Lounge to try and get some more coverage.

what is happening about farm livestock

is a rescue of them being organised as well ?? as I'd hate to think of them being electrocuted and as I farm as well as have horses......

My sister has been there this morning moved 24 horses to safty untill one beast of a horse spooked in the box shunning it forward causing her Land rover to stall and conk out !
