Rage is going to visit Willesley on the 26th.
Just wondered how long horses having KS surgery usually are hospitalised for before they can come home?

I keep forgetting to ask when I am on the phone, and have pestered them so much about insurance and referrals that I don't want to ring again just to ask that!

I have just brought my horse home today from his KS op that he had last Wednesday - so 9 days after op - will be interested to see what others say

Usually around a week, but Ryan stayed for 10days as he had such a long journey (4.5hrs) that the vet thought it was best to give him a couple of extra days to recover before setting off for home. I found Willersley very reasonable and my bill for the op & extras came to within £100 of their quote and that included bute and wound dressings to take home etc.

Feel free to pm me if you have any other questions or concerns.

Just to say to the other guys who posted, best of luck to your neds for a speedy and successful recovery.

Thanks all, just needed an idea of time scale so that boss can be warned that time off will be taken!

Beth, thanks for the offer of PM support

Am trying to stay positive atm, but it is likely that Rage will be having two KS op's

Will know for certain after his consultation with Svend on the 26th.... Did you see his xrays when I posted them?

Good luck B, he will probably be in for one week. Owen was there for 10 days as he got a slight infection there ( dont panic, that is very unusual!! )

Owen came back looking just fabolous, they do look after them well there. Wishing you the very best of luck and keep us updated, and if you would like to PM me please do.

Hi there. Honey was done June last year at Willesley and as we were only in the next county and only had about an hour and halfs journey she was allowed home 4 days after op. Hope that helps. I notice you're in Glos so not to far away from Willesley at all. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and hope that everything goes ok. My girl is doing brilliantly now she just moves so freely although now and again she can still act like bambi. Good luck and keep us updated.

We are about 1 1/2 hours away from Willesley (at lorry speed!), so similar to you. Maybe he will come home 'early' then

Glad Honey is doing well still, and thanks very much for the crossed fingers!

Good luck and keep us up to date on how your both doing. I will say that the journey home was quite hard for Hun's and she was completely sweated so take Svend's advice and if he doesn't think they're ready then go with what he thinks best - he is ace.

Honey unfortunately had an unrelated accident not long after the surgery that had set us back a bit, but well I did my first jump on her yesterday (well is was only about 1 foot, but it still counts and I've never felt her so good).

Keep in touch it'll be so worth it for both of you.

All the best
