I have heard that if you smother vaseline on the inside of your horse's hoofs then you can ride as the snow does not stick inside the hoof. Has any tried it? Anyone riding in the snow?
I tried vaseline the other week but it wasn't effective, the other day someone on here suggested putting old socks over the hooves, I popped vaseline on the hooves, followed by a sock over the hoof and then wrapped around the top with some vet wrap, worked an absolute treat
silicone spray works quite well .. if your horse tolerates spray! i like the idea of the old socks though!!! but i am not that desperate to ride in this......
I have used a mix of lard and liquid paraffin which is quite good. I heard WD40 is a petroleum distillate which is very toxic to horses? May be wrong though.
