It has been brought to my attention that the thread is late this week ?

So what has everyone got planned?

More of the same here, probably finally move Salty to her maternity paddock and install horsecams in their proper place for viewing :)

Bit of schooling and downtime for Darcy and Kira. Hope the sunny weather holds out.
Have fun all :)

I shall show B Fuzzy the arena letters that I thoughtfully put out in my most level paddock.
We may (or may not) sashay around pretending we are Jennie LC but looking like Dawn French at pony club practice, for a few mins.
We will also saunter out for nature rambles too.

Creosoting is now on hold as I have run out, but a hood amount of fencing and 2 of the 3 shelters are looking smarter :)

Working tomorrow (more spreadsheets, deep joy), then schooling on Saturday and (weather permitting) a ‘hack’ round the big field on Sunday. Then work on Monday. Kind of my new normal really. And judging by the Scottish minister update today, this will be May for me...
just grateful that I can still see and ride my horse.

Hacking again. OH was on about going out together, he will walk or cycle, I will ride. We'll do about 3 hours, at a sedate pace. From the yard as we can't travel, but at least it is some company.

L loves it when he comes as he picks treats from the hedgerow and if he's on his bike she likes racing him up hills.

I am tempted to have a little jump one day if he will come with me. I haven't jumped since lockdown and I am gutted as jumping was going well and I had plans for this summer. I find my confidence is very dependent upon the frequency with which I jump and we keep progressing then something gets in our way before we get beyond about 75cm. We're safe, I am just a wuss, we are both capable of jumping bigger stuff but it would be good to run through a small grid or something.

Woohoo for DF (and everyone getting to see ponies :D )

I have been hacking and shooting and schooling and gridworking and hacking some more today. I'm thoroughly knackered now. Too many horses, too many disciplines today. Although I have nailed arrow pick ups today which is quite fun. The weekend will be more of the same - planning to hack Carrot tomorrow to avoid the busier days of the weekend, and then she'll be schooling again on Sunday. Fergus will be hacking and hopefully shooting again at some point over the weekend. Dae will just be hacking, hacking and more hacking.

Kat: I recommend micro-gridding. It's brilliant fun, good for the brain and pretty low risk as jumping goes!

Video of Fergus being cool today:

Sadly nothing just working as usual like I have since before the Covid. No rest for the wicked sadly no enjoyable plans, will hack out though so that is enjoyable despite all the walkers and cyclist on the horse track.

Work (today), more work (tomorrow); exhausted sleep (Sunday). Mixed with a bit of hacking today and a bit of schooling on Sunday. Working double the hours to make up for OH's drop in income certainly makes the days fly by!

Another online dressage this weekend.
OH rode last night (it is his horse so I suppose he is allowed) and popped a few fences in the paddock.

Horse hasn’t jumped for a while so was a little bit sticky to start (yes, thought I, I am succeeding in my mission to turn this beast into a dressage diva) but after a few jumps unfortunately Big Unit remembered he’s an event horse and had a whale of a time jumping ? Size wise they are prob 80s or so. Spider legs horse makes them look tiny though.

I’ll do something today, possibly go for a hack and then maybe have a quick play in the school.

I had a lesson this morning, followed by the farrier. Great lesson, we are asking Henry to step up and work harder and while he does find it hard he tries his very best. I find it very hard too mind you! This weekend I think will be spent hacking in the sun. We have had a very wet week and so it will nice to get outside!

Well this week had been a bit of a write off because I've been a but poorly, but I went for a little hack on Arty last night (on the basis that I could just sit and watch the world go by), and it was lovely ?. So will do a few more like that as I'm really not feeling the schooling vibe atm.

Meanwhile young pebbles was coming back into work before this week. And I finally bought a saddle for her that arrived a few days ago, with the girth hopefully arriving today or tomorrow, so she can do something with new saddle on, then hopefully I might be able to get on her next week some time ?

Pic of Pebbles-pebblington of pebsville ready to go longreining about 10 days ago for interest:

Pony shopping! Well window shopping anyway. Hopefully travelling to view will be ok soon.

Dolly has a dressage lesson on Saturday and I'll hack her out on Sunday.

Amber is enjoying sunshine and idleness with plenty of grass. She's more or less on an all you can eat extended package holiday.

Not much, taking it easy after a few busy weeks at work, glad for a day off today.

Today is lunging and in hand day, I've just started teaching trot shoulder in from the ground so will do a bit more of that. Schooling at the weekend. His straight line canter departs are coming on well so now starting to ask for outside lead some of the time. Preparing him for the changes, exciting :)

Well I have joined a club that is doing lots of on line/in hand competitions so this afternoon I am getting my step daughter to film both ponies going round a little horse agility course built to a plan sent via the club and judged by specialist horse agility lady. This has been a huge learning curve as it has meant finding out how to put a film on you tube! It has also engaged my brain trying to find suitable bits and pieces to make up the obstacles. All this is before trying to persuade ponies to go backwards over poles with out touching them and putting their feet into made up hula hoops (old hose pipes which look like grass snakes!). The "scary corner" is nothing compared to these. It has also given me incentive to brush as much winter coat out as possible and wash their tails so if nothing else I will have pretty ponies in the field!

Micro-gridding is pretty much the only type of gridding I do!!!!

Fergs looks ace in your video, the horseback archery is so cool!

I have just been told by OH that as soon as the cake is out of the oven we're off for a hack. He is putting his bike in the car. He has a route planned and thinks we should be back by sunset.

It is a bit mental starting my hack after most of the yard have packed up and gone home for the night but it is lovely and quiet.

I've spent most of the day watching historic badminton highlights.

Went for a nice solo hack as planned. Big horse doesn’t like
- manhole covers
- gully gratings
- exuberant lambs

?

had a couple of nappy moments but more through a lack of confidence on his part. It was our first full solo hack, so overall very pleased with him. He really marches when he walks, and the roads are quite hilly, so lots of benefits for him too ?

Beautiful hack today (with bonus ‘look how pretty my horse is’ photo from yest), we went for a slightly longer loop through the housing estate, totally forgetting that people would have bunting out and be having ‘parties’ but separated by the road! Mad was very very good as was told by about 10 people how beautiful she is ?.

Now home and cleaning tack in the sun. If only every day could be like this!A0184DB5-2952-4A23-8BF5-1B7C063CEC13.jpeg4054994A-9F0B-45AB-BB2A-1628B7FD2F16.jpeg

I have almost finished my trailer, just the final sand and topcoat to do, and would really like to finish it now but I've moved stables at the yard and am in the process of sorting it all out. I have been doing this for about 10days now! I've pulled up about 10 square metres of nettles, pulled down fencing, moved bags of rubbish, and have now managed to source cheap second hand paving stones to make a trailer parking area, so this weekend I'm learning to pave! I'm dreading it as I don't think its going to be as easy as the youtube videos make it look!

Mucking out at the barn tomorrow and then giving madam a bath........ because we can ride starting from Monday! Scheduled visits only, the barn owner is calling them 'Wellness Under Saddle Checks' which are NOT lessons but we have them with our coaches. Not entirely sure on the difference, but I get to ride so I don't care!

Vet comes Monday for ultrasound on leg and next steps in rehab (hoping we can add in some trot). I have two 'wellness checks' with my coach and my 3rd slot on my own, hoping to do a mooch around the track on the property (we don't really have any proper hacking as such) and in hand work as well.
