My mare has jarred her legs, so I am looking into buying a set of these 'magnetik' boots to help her out. So I was just wondering if they are any cop? Or an expensive waste of money? Or are there other products on the market which are better?

Would I just need to buy fronts or should I get a full set?

Thanks in advance HHO.

Hope you had a good weekend!!

Archie wears magnetic straps infront - i cant for the life of me find where i got them tho! However they are great as they are really strong magnetics, but as they are just straps they dont make the legs sweat like boots can.

if she has just jarred her legs how about just good old cold hosing following buy slapping loads of Arnica and Witchhazel gel on twice a day?

I love mine. I have a full set, but if you just wanted fronts then I can't see anyreason to buy hinds as well?
Had mine almost 12months and they're still gorgeous. I have rubber mats, so the bottoms of the padding can get absolutely disgusting (my mare used to box walk until all she had was slurry

) but they come up as good as new after a wash, and dry quickly too.
I chose the veredus ones over other magnet boots as I liked the padding and support of them - effectively the same as bandaging but with magnets, and much quicker

They don't make the legs hot either. 10/10 from me

I use bioflow magnetic boots, which are excellent as they are a sort of open weave fabric and don't make the legs hot at all. Got them off ebay quite cheap.

Hi PG

How are you hun? How is Archie? Did you get out competing this weekend?

Weekend was good thanks. I just feel a bit sorry for S

. But you know for a change it is nice just to do things on the ground. I know I think I have been taking riding her for granted just recently so it is a bit of a reminder

.

I have cold hosed twice both Saturday and Sunday, then applied "Like Ice" clay to her legs to keep them cool in between. YO will cold hose for me again today and apply more clay stuff. Will cold hose Tuesday and walk her out then keep up the routine until the next weekend.

I was thinking more for afterwards if you know what I mean, sort of prevention for arthritis?! Or am I being rather too paranoid?

I might have a look for some straps, they sounds alot easier to put on.

Hi Bounty

Thanks for the good review. We have rubber mats too so they may well get a bit 'poo juicy' on the bottoms - I take it you can get spare infill things so I could have one to wash and one to wear.

Cheers.

You can. I was going to, but found that the inners dry so quickly that I've not needed to. When they need washing I bung them in the machine in the morning when I take them off, put them on the airer (washing line *if* the weather permits!

) through the day, and they're ready to go back on on the evening.

you can leave the straps on 24/7 if you like aswell, whereas you cant with boots.

yes, went and competed in the rain on saturday! Wasnt very pleasent but he was a good boy

Naw glad he was a good boy for you, blimey PG you are very commited if the rain down your way was as bad as it was up by ours .... you must have looked like a drowned rat

I had rain pouring off my beagler, and my jacket was so went it was slaping against me - it wasnt nice! needless to say i only did one test then withdrew! In my medium trot i had to close my eyes as the rain was in my face!!

I have fronts of these, best thing i ever got, well was given ! i dont have the magnetic ones though, just the standard ones, done wonders for support to the legs when i first had sky and had problems !

Hi Scoops thanks for the advice

I might well go for straps, as they can be used in the Summer too as I wouldnt want her legs getting too warm. Then in Winter I could use the straps with those Coolex wrap thingys.

I did have a set of these - I used to put them on my older horse. I only had one pair, so put them on the hind at night and front in the morning. He had quite bad windgalls and they seems to get rid of them completely. However, I don't know if that was because they were like stable bandages or if it really was the magnetic 'effect'!

What do you use the magnetic straps for? Are they supposed to prevent arthritis or treat it?

I too would be interested in finding out more info about the magnetic straps.

I bought some of these about six months ago but I have to say I didn't see any difference. He also shredded one of them so now they are unusable. I guess they don't work for everyone!
