Very fat pony Lame???

Surely no one has this much lack of a real life to make this kind of sh#t up do they?

Boggling, just weird.

I'm not saying the OP isn't genuine, but you'd be amazed what people do make up. Whole fake life stories, dramas and tragedies have happened here. One even faked their own death.

Remember Gamble the Imaginary Dumped Foal? Or the woman who 'walked into the operating theatre for surgery for a broken back in Dubarrys then strolled out again 5 hours later, fighting any nurses in her path and then mucked out 10 boxes' :rolleyes3:
And let's not forget Dunroamin and her moped...?

People make up ALLSORTS. Especially in the school holidays.

Fwiw, horses do not go lame just because they are overweight. And I don't believe that any vet would say this.

I still think it is laminitis and I would be getting a farrier out for a second opinion. OP were you there when the vet checked this pony? Was this your vet or the owners vet?

I too find it hard to believe a vet would say a pony is lame because it is overweight. More likely it's got laminitis, or it's half term!

Family has said even though he dont have lami treat him as if he did & i am going too, We took him into the yard when vet checked him, it was my vet,

Vets do not give 'being overweight' as a cause for lameness.

I think you have either misinterpreted what he has said, or are not being forthcoming with the truth.

Im going to stable him as soon as he gets here, soaked hay deep bed, can i put him out for 1 hr a day with a grazing muzzle on in a small paddock keeping a eye on him of course.

Oh I have some advice!!

Sell your new pony to a knowledgeable new owner, and gain a lot more basic knowledge prior to getting another.

Don't turn him out until he is sound without painkillers ,as he may do more damage. If you turn him out or work him while lame you will cause more damage
Find out how to take a digital pulse

I would strongly suggest ringing your vet and asking him to repeat the diagnosis ans perhaps ask him to explain what exactly has made the pony lame .
Laminitis is extremely serious but very treatable and with the CORRECT treatment he should be able to make full recovery.

Yorkshire Dumpling went by many names but I can definitely remember her being found out about faking her own death. I believe she changed profile names and wanted the old one dead and buried. It's so long ago that I can't really remember the details. I wasn't implying that the OP of this thread has any connection, just replying to someone who mentioned the fake death post. Infact, HHO used to be a lot more fun in the days of the supertroll. Today's efforts are rather poor to be honest!!

There's a challenge ;)

I take it this pony is for your daughter? How do you know after what could be many months of treatment for the 'overwieght-ness' he will be suitable? I still believe the old owner is laughing all the way to the bank on this one.

I seem to remember finding that Yorkshire Dumpling was Tuppence's Fortune was Santaboogypie but I think a lot of the threads have been deleted so the the trail is hard to follow. My investigatory skills have become a bit rusty these days but I would like to polish them up a bit!!
