Dizzy had her first dentist appointment yesterday (old owner didn't get them done not sure about when she was in ireland) and she was a super star! She stood very very still and calm for the incredibly lovely dentist my yard uses (he really takes his time with them). He smoothed everything over at the back as they were razor sharp and he said that should help with the napping. He also said that she still had 3 baby teeth. When I said her passport puts her at 4 and a half he raised his eyebrows and expressed he believed her to be younger more coming up to 4 than over it.
Would be interesting to see if you guys agree?
She also had her first farrier visit this morning and she was a little monkey because everyone else was in the field and she wasn't. She was stropping around pulling back and breaking loose. Farrier is amazing though he promptly told her to stop being so silly and had her trotting around him in the yard when he walked back over to his truck she followed then stood for him without being tied up for the rest of the time perfectly!!!! He said her fronts were unbalanced and the last farrier put shoes on to small for her so he has corrected that but said it will take a few sessions to get her fronts completely right.
Now we only have the physio and saddler left to go this weekend then we can start work properly in comfort and I will know if the napping is behavioural or pain!
God this week is expensive haha!

Sounds like a busy week indeed!

Well done for getting everything sorted :D

I am really not sure how I am not falling apart at the seams! On top of horse stuff I am moving house on saturday, I have a photo shoot tomorrow in southampton, I have 1000 photos to finish editing for a previous wedding before I meet the couple on sunday and a 100 or so prints to get done for people from the gymkhana last saturday!

Probably shouldn't be on here...

Re the napping have you ever tried one of those soft whipwhop rope doodahs? I used on on my younster yesterday when she was refusing to go past some killer wheelie bins/ puddles/ bushes and so on and it was incredible, sent her forwards right away. She had started off the hack (in company) rearing and plunging/ trying to spin round and once I tried that she moved on immediately. Went out today on our own and i had no problems at all she went off my leg obediently.

Oh wow really? Thats great! She funnily doesn't nap at all when out hacking and is completely unspooky (apart from pigs) Its in the school when she has to bend on the left rein which I am guessing suggests she has some pain somewhere and she was dragging her left hind (not lame just not lifting it properly) last week hence so she has had this week off of ridden work until physio and saddler have been as if it is pain because of her age i don't want her to associate ridden work with pain. But next week its all go :)

I can't wait to start hacking on our own!!! It sounds like you and amber are getting along great :) Such a pretty little mare!

Ah I see well fingers crossed the professionals sort it but if it is naughtiness really do try that rope thing. I was skeptical but it was really amazing how flicking a bit of rope back and forth (not hitting her) changed her opinion about things!
