Is it OK if you list something on ebay with a different photo to what you are actually selling?

For example;

You list a rug with a picture of a blue rug but you are actually selling the pink version off it, description and title states it is pink.

and

You list a horse supplement with a picture of a 5 litre bottle but you are actually selling a 500ml bottle, again both stated in title and description!

So is that OK or does the picture HAVE to match what you are selling?

I think as long as you state clearly in the description of the item that the picture isn't of the actual item and list the diferences then you should be OK.

Lots of people advertise stuff that is second hand using the original catalogue photos from when it was new.

I have seen quite a few people do this, they have shown a picture of a different rug, or used the picture off a website and not of the actual rug. IMO I don't see a problem with it so long as it is described correctly after all again imo it is no worse than not using a picture at all.
Sorry may not be of help but wanted to let you know that I have come across a fair few people doing this with horsey items.

Thank you both that's what I wanted to hear

I think you are more likely to sell if it is an accurate picture if you show a blue rug and sell a pink one it will reduce your views potentially and you will get some Dork brained twit bidding because they dont read your ad properly.

I have had two instances one of THIS ITEM IS FOR LOCAL PICKUP ONLY and one where I didnt want to post abroad because I wasnt sure of Customs.

Editted to say basically there is nothing wrong wth it but you may not get the best out of bidding.

I have seen a number of items for sale with wrong pictures. I.e. looking at saddles and finding black dressage wintec saddles with brown GP photos. So long as it is clear and easy to read, you should be ok.
