**I used to ride a 24 yr old mare...This little mare got hit by a car and her hind leg got cought, the driver fell asleep at the wheel. Her owner was told she probably wouldn't make it through the night after breaking her hind leg, she pulled through. The next day she was told she would possibly not sruvive the next 48hrs - she did. She was then told she would only be good as a companion or possibly a broodmare (but was 15 at the time). She pulled through and was jumping 1m with me but is now retired due to her tendons.... Her owner kept positive and although the vets said she should've been put to sleep, M (her owner) never let it happen.**
My thoughts are with you and Fal, and his new owners
Oh Laura thats devastating news. Im glad he found the right home for him where he got on so well. Such a shame that his working life has ended so soon when he was doing so well.
Poor Fal.
I hope he pulls through, if it is not too serious a fracture, he could well do.
There's a 3* horse currently competing successfully that broke a leg as a 4yo, so fingers crossed for Fal to survive.
Oh honey, I am really sorry to hear your sad news. How has he broken his leg? Is it not somewhere that could heal with time and give him a career after it? There was one in H&H winning a dressage competition that broke its leg 2 years ago...
I don't know enough about it to know TBH, don't know how he did it or which leg. I'm sure his owners will be fighting for him and will do whatever is best for him.
Take the positives from it though - you found him somewhere that obviously suited him and he has been happy and successful for the last couple of years - if you had of had him PTS he wouldn't have had that.
VERY sorry to read this. I followed your posts about Fal avidly as it was so similar to something I'd been through with a monster of my own.
If he is PTS, at least you know you gave him every chance, which resulted in him being successful and admired in the end. So many other people wouldn't be able to console themselves with that.
Vibes heading over to Fal as I type.
