firstly, i would like a refund on the weather......it was meant to be sunny today and DRY!!!! humph.

secondly, mahoosive thanks to Lucy @ LVR Equine transport who took me, nik, and CS to Moulton. Perfect journeys there and back, anyone needing transport in the midlands i can highly reccomend, it was a totally stress free way to get to and from the show :)

invested in some super strength snuff for the boy today, in light of it being his first show since last Oct, so he had Equine America SUPER Kalm instead of the So Kalm paste, and i dont know if it was that, or the little pep talk i gave him...("you are 6 now, you are all growed up, growed up horses dont leap round the warm up on their back legs, only 4 and 5yo are allowed to do that")......but he was super chillaxed, not a ping or a pong in sight and no leaping!!! we shall see anyway, will give him next weekend on full dose again then try a half dose, and see if that makes any diff. at £20 a dose it aint cheap but if it works its all fine with me (less so so with mastercard perhaps...)

i felt like i rode like a total bag of spanners today, couldnt keep my ass down, couldnt keep my legs back, and could feel my left hip popping out from under me. so a visit to the chiro may be in order, just felt all at sea??????

pony bless him ignore my discombobulated bimbling around and got on with the job like a pro, first up E53, which we did a couple of times last year, but today did feel much more mature, like we had a lot more room and time to prepare.
was pleased with leg yields as have worked really hard on those this week to get them show perfect and 100% straight, all halts square and no fumbled left canter strike off (his weak point when tense), so chuffed to bits with all that.
being really picky he dropped behind my leg in the first canter a bit, and i couldnt sit properly to the medium trot at all, but thats me not him.

over the moon with 70.88% and 1st overall by a long way-2nd overall was on 64.something%. what a clever chap, so big wedge of points towards the regionals :)

time for a quick break for some noms, and then back on board for our medium debut-M73.

he felt really good in the warm up, really off the leg laterally and trying to give me his bestest half passes. didnt do too much as he felt a bit tired, and then we were in.....
.....first shoulder in and HP were a bit wobbly, i could feel him being like "erm, we dont do THIS in the ring you crazy lady" but he got on with it and second set of lateral stuff was much more secure, and by the canter HP he had it nailed.
shoulder ins and pirouettes got 7's, dropped to 6's for the HP work as he just needs more strength to show real self carrrige in it, but he tried very hard to keep his legs crossing in the right direction for me.

superstar CS got 65.65% and was 1st overall again, so he won £32 today, and some more points towards another regional.

thrilled to bits with his first show of 2011.

bagels with cream cheese and lucozade for all!!!

Super duper proud of you nob :)

We can start having twinny chiro sessions???!! Can't believe how relaxed he was, so grown up now! Hated the rain and the cold and the 6.30am start, but his performance made it worth while...

Also....AHEM. I think you will find it is I who have madeth the bagels and cream cheese, and they are all mine, stop offering them out! xoxo

I agree with louisem, you have the hips of a child, I am most jealous :p :D
He looks great, really amazing for a little TB of the track, what an ambassador!

You must be fairly close to me, saw in another thread you're 10 mins away from VV, I'm about 20 mins away, in the direction of the M1.

Weather was so horrid today, full credit for going out in it!
He looks really lovely and HUGE congratulations for winning and what great % too.
Fantastic start to the season!

Congrats on a very successful day (shame about the weather!) - CS really is one of my fave HHO horses (and I'm incredibly jealous of your riding - but you inspire me to improve!).

Well done on a great day and some great scores! Is the plan now to concentrate on the mediums?

PS. When did Moulton change their outdoor surface?! It looks to be a sand surface now rather than rubber. Guessing they did it because it always got quite deep and wet outside when it rained which was such a shame as the indoor is lovely and their BD shows are always so well run! Shame I now live far away from it as a venue.

Nice to know I'm not the only one who sits there thinking "think PS legs, seat and hands" as I'm riding round ;)

He looks fabby! Awesome scores, well done!

Well done, brilliant results :)!!
If I'd known you were going I'd have come over, only about 10mins away from me!! Think Moulton will be my medium debut venue too........will check you're not there on that day ;)

awwww thank you, you've all said such lovely things :)

i am well overdue a bit of a shout about my left hand, so that will be Nik's job tues night!!!

think Moulton changed surface end of last year, but this is first time ive been since......rides much better, its really firm and springy except at A, where is still bizarrely rather deep, but it is just one patch at A.

plan is to continue to do one elem and one medium, get regional qual for elem (and medium if it happens, but wont chase that one) in the bag.do a couple of 6yo classes, and then continue with mediums in the second half of the year and maybe an advanced medium before we retire for winter again lol!!!!

would def reccomend trying super kalm,if anyone is after a calmer, think it took the edge of a bit better, for a bit longer, than the so kalm.will keep him on full dose next week as vale view can be a bit *buzzy* and will then try a half dose the time after that. am reeeeeeeally hoping its a bit of maturity as much as the calmer though.

ah i love my pony!

Well done PS and CS :)

very well deserved scores as you clearly work very hard at home so lovely to be rewarded appropriately!

Out of interest do you know if retraining of racehorses do a dressage series like the eventing one? Think you and CS are a fantastic example of what hard work achieves with these sensitive souls :)

congrats again :D

ME SOME Me SOME!!!!!! Will try that and see if it has any effect on my boy's 'insecurities' lol

Photos are lovely, CS is lovely and your riding spot on.

Well done :)

We drove all the way to Hargate in the rain, it stopped when we got there. It stopped while we rode and then started to pour down on the way home..Jealous? Not as much as I am of your boy! :D lol lol
