Very thin people on horses?

Maybe we should start a collection for biscuit money for these poor, underfed people:D

For safety reasons, people could try shoving a pillow down their joddies to pad their bottoms out, thus avoiding bruising in the case of unscheduled dismounts:p

My OH was incredibly thin. When I first met him he had to wear special heavy boots to prevent him from being blown away in the wind. There was no way he could get on my horse, in fact when he tried the horse looked utterly perplexed as to what was on his back, and certainly had no sensitivity to my OH's aids. Thankfully now I have fed him well enough to be able to maintain a sensible weight so I can allow him to safely ride my horse.

I suggest a charity cake-bake to raise awareness of the plight of skinny folk.

I find this post really offensive. It is bad enough being laughed at for looking like a golf club in my boots, being dragged from and to the field because I am too weedy to hold my horse but to see things like this? Horrible.

I am quite strong for a skinny person. I can lift most buckets for myself and manage to get on my horse without going all the way over. And I managed a canter on a fairly windy day without getting blown off. Try thinking about thin people will you? Humph.

Good job I do only ride a 13hh pony that I cannot blow off it even on a windy day...

I think this is fab nice to have a bit of a giggle haha

I would like to also point out that I ride a suitably fine Anglo Arab who is perfect proportioned to my slight tall frame.

I'd like to point out that there was a slight breeze coming from behind me here...

If this was the other way around, taking the p**s out of fat people, would everyone find it so funny? sorry i know it's light hearted and everything but still not everyone chooses to be skinny

ETA- i just saw the fat people post so kind of get the point but still some of us do stuff ourselves with donuts and mcdonalds all day and still remain skinny and a flight risk

I am so upset and angry to read this thread!!!!

I will have you know that despite weighing one stone and riding a 17.2hh warmblood fly bucker that I am NOT endagering myself, my horse or others.

I'm finding this weightest thread extremelly Insulting. So insulting I can't even spell properly while expressing my distaste.

I am not a pony undersquisher!!!

I also take precautions when I ride... My hat weighs a good 7 stone and so does my 5 layer, leaded body protector. I'm held onto my horse with a 5 point racing harness ( so much more expensive and fashionable then a 5 point breastplate) and I have had metal inserts placed in my arms so they don't snap.

And its not just riding that's a problem! Everyday chores such as fetching your horse from the field in the wind is a huge issue! Especially if the skinnies have to cross a stream etc - they are in constant fear of being swept away!

Thankfully parelli have thought of this problem and devised a solution. Weighted carrot sticks and ropes - both with left and right handed options. Guaranteed to keep the skinny person safe at all times. Rope can also be used as an anchor when riding. Bargain at only $200 each plus vat :D

weighted down with buckets of water and full wheelbarrows may help ? And whilst riding, I would suggest a rucksack full of bricks....... have a cupcake ;)

Not everyone chooses to be skinny, not everyone chooses to be fat, not everyone chooses to be whatever their affliction may be.

The intention of this post was to lighten things up somewhat from all the threads we have had recently about fat people riding. It is in no way serious as I think is pretty obvious from what I have posted and no malice or hurt is intended. If I have caused people to feel offended by the comments then I am sorry as it was only meant as a joke.

What saddens me the most about the forums are the increasing number of people taking things very seriously on here and making it almost impossible for open discussion to take place without either being inflammatory or so polictically incorrect it almost makes my eyes bleed.

I have had my fair share of being harrassed/bullied over the years and know just how it feels and maybe I have grown a thicker skin since then, or perhaps it is just because I am too fat, lazy and stupid to let things bother me anymore? ;) (totally tongue in cheek!)

Very funny thread and *clap* to Bessieboo's last post!

Sophie, tongue-in-cheek hun, tongue-in-cheek :D:D

I have given the matter due and weighted consideration, and have decided that, in the interests of good horsemanship and fair play to all, I shall donate some of my excess blubber to all these poor skinny wee things.

Please, no thanks are needed, I feel it is not only my duty, but indeed, is a privilege :)

Belter - excellent!!!!! LOL!!

I didn't choose to be ginger:( It is a terrible affliction. Am I too ginger to ride?:(

Hmmmmmmmm well last month i used a hair colour to go ginger that turned orange - really orange - and that involved sunglasses to look in the mirror. I had a halo of orange round me, great in the dark it was ! Especially the neon grey bits  Sod the riding , i was too embarrassed to go down the yard :p

You see, peeps DO try and go ginger ;)

I am very skinny, and when ever I ride, my instructor always jokes about how the horse wouldn't even kno wI was on him/her!!

My aunt said to me today I was too skinny and needed to put on weight! I love my food, and eat normal portions, 3/4 times a day, I just have a very high matabillisum (sp).

FREE TO A GOOD HOME!!!! bags of blubber to those poor underweight riders. Only thing I ask for is you pay postage and packing, which will cost a forture cos it will be soooo heavy!!!

I am meant to be in bed cos I feel really quite poorly, but this thread has so cheered me up!............... (goes crawling off back into her bed with hot water bottle)

AAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!! Sorry, choking on my compulsory after lunch rolos!! :)

Now where can I get these amazing peperroni weighted aids? And is there something available to keep me attached to the horse while leading it to the field to prevent the inevitable flying along horizontally while holding the end of a leadrope, the other end of which is attached to my 20hh ShireX? :)

Luckily yes! The pepperoni's have weighted socks that you wear under your boots to help with this issue. However, they also recommend that you buy levels 1-3 of their program (Can be bought at bargain price of $1000 for all 3 as part of a special deal with the socks) as if you are flying horizontally it is not because you are skinny, but because your horse does not love and respect you :D:D
