Just wondered how much people pay these days?
Also, do you expect to be charged from the last place visited or the office? In years gone by I was always charged from their office (unless out of hours emergency) which we're just a few miles from so it was always minimum charge but lately this has changed to last call and often I don't get to know where the previous call is. This means my call out charge can vary widely from the minimum to almost 4 times as much. They're the only practice I've ever been with so have nothing to compare it to.

Flat fee for me.
Currently £57 full price (ouch) but then I am nearly an hour away from the hospital if the roads are busy.
Half price on a zone day
I take mine in to the hospital if I have the time and it's something routine.

I don't see it right that they charge you from last place visited, it's up to them to arrange their diary in the most cost effective way, where they were on their last visit is nothing to do with you.
This is my feeling. Just lately I haven't seen most of my bills, they've gone direct to the insurers and getting copies seems to be like pulling teeth but I managed to get an account statement and the prices are all over the place. Then I tried to book today and got told that I could have a certain vet on a certain day but they're due to be on the other side of the county so my "callout charge will be massive".

I think it’s about £40 normal hours and I can’t remember out of hours. They have a free zone day but mine is also our busiest day at work and the vets don’t give a time or even a rough idea so I can’t do that.

Free on zone days for zone activities. £56 to come 200 yards from the office to the yard which I think is extortionate but guess as everyone is charged the same it means I pay for them to visit further away in terms of overheads etc so mostly just do zone days and take the horse into the surgery for anything more than jabs etc

£30 but for pre-arranged stuff like teeth and vaccs my vet fudges it so we get the free visit even though I don't have enough horses to qualify.

£52.96 normal working hours 😬

I’ve had around 6 x vet visits this year so that’s £317.76 in just “call out fees” makes me feel a bit ill lol!

£57.95 inc VAT for a visit, would be free on a local yard visit day (roughly once a month) I think I'm in one of the farthest away zones 😐

Standard fixed charge for normal working hours (Mon - Fri 8am to 5.30pm and Sat am) higher standard charge for out of hours and one day a week free visit day for pre booked appointments (not emergencies)

I think I'm about £45 but will know for sure when the bill for last week's vaccination arrives.

I wouldn't be paying the call out charge from last place they visited - that's a complete joke and they are massively at it IMO. I've never heard of that before and call out areas are determined from the vet's surgery/office. It's not for other customers to shoulder the bill; the call out fee is the call out fee and this should be set (unless they run reduced/free visits for certain areas on certain days etc)

My standard call out is £70 with it charged from the practise, practise is about 35 miles from me. They are happy to share call outs if they are in the area. Out of hours call charge is an extra £14 which I think is very reasonable.

Its a flat rate for me. £33 I think, low 30s anyway, and we get free zone days once a week. I wouldnt be putting up with constantly changing charges!

That's weird, I think with ours if the requested vet was the opposite side of the area they would just suggest another day but they have always seemed to have their own preferred areas within hours anyway which helps.

Our vet charges based on distance from the office. I think the call out is £20 - or £14 on zone visit days (so not much if saving to have to be in on that day I’ve just realised!). Always charged from the practice.

£77 for standard call out from the practice to my yard. £30 shared call out if their visiting someone else in my area around the same time.

They always arrange other visits for my area on days I book a visit to keep my cost down.

Flat rate call out of £35 ish within standard hours, extra £30 ish out of hours.
Pre booked stuff, I take them to the surgery as it's only 15 mins away.
Previous practice charged from previous visit for emergency calls. One of the reasons I changed practices!

Flat rate of around £35 and out of hours is about £50. We do get togather on the yard to split the call out but were told last time to expect an increase in call out charge. We are now looking to switch to another practice who does free call out on zone days to our area
