A fellow walker mentioned Alabama Rot to me last week. It’s made me paranoid given we only go to very muddy woods.

Re the pink spots, are they a bit like hotspots? When Brig had lots pop up altogether, I puffed on athletes’ foot powder, miracle cure!
I always hibiscrub them after shooting, just weak solution.
Not like hot spots , bloodier.

Older dogs are such a worry 😢 my lurcher who we believe to be 12.5 years has really slowed this last 7 months and I noticed last week he was struggling with even short walks and his back legs have weakened again. He went for medication review on Monday and is now on metacam and newly on gabapentin, which I’m not convinced about. He hasn’t been to physio for over a month (I admit it was for money reasons) but he’s heading there tomorrow to see what is going on

I hope both of yours arr seeing positive results

Fingers crossed for good results all round. We have all five at the vets this afternoon, for checks pre Bravecto, Ghillie post spay check, and I’m hoping brief advice on Rew’s subcutaneous emphysema!
Hope she’s doing well. I found a huge tick on Scout yesterday, took it off and promptly dropped it. Never did find it again, it’s somewhere in the cloakroom. Shudder!

I had a t touch person but only once as she was awful afterwards, twitching terribly. They rather put me off although T enjoyed it at the time and the practitioner did say you need repeated treatment to work.
I massage her myself and would definitely take her to one but I’m not sure about accreditations and so on.

Id just look for a massage therapist with good reviews and watch closely as they treated her. Massage is one of thise things thats a bit of a black art. A good practioner, is a good practioner no matter which umbrella they have trained under. She doesnt want to be pulled and yanked, and doesnt need a physio and rehab exercises, but someone who could loosen her off and maybe show you some techniques to use would probably be really useful.

How is Tawny today?
I’m in London so mum is dog sitting. Haven’t asked, too far away to help and will find out tomorrow.

On the plus side we posted Scout’s urine sample through the vets door on our way to the train stationthis morning and it’s clear and they are 99% sure it’s not Alabama Rot. I had a bad night worrying.
Still have to find out what it is, but it’s a start.

Sorry to read about your worries, and it's even worse when they're both having problems at the same time. Fingers crossed that Tawny gets better with the acupuncture, and that you soon finds a solution to Scout's sores, and whatever caused his blood test result to be the way it was.

Well it’s been a long weekend. T was bad Friday night and worse Saturday. She responds well to massage so we ended up alternating with one of us rubbing her neck. I even had to get up in the night as she was restless.
Sunday night was better, she had a massage and she’s been wearing my snood, and she settled.
Tonight she’s fine, not a peep out of her and moving really well.
She’s been fine every day but I would say today she’s been great, she had zoomies and has been leaping up and down on the spot ( much discouraged).
Scout seems to be healing up, scab wise, they certainly aren’t as raised and lumpy as they were. He maybe has put a bit of weight on, but that’s a slow thing with him.

That sounds encouraging.

My OH keeps reminding me about the saying 'sick as a dog', Bear was lying in the corridor shivering, was picked up and put on a bed but just stayed upright until my OH laid him down. He's phoned from work to ask how he is and I'm like 'Leaping round, wanting food, desperate to say hello' ie normal after a siesta. I panic, he's nearly 14 and distinctly creaky some days.

Well she wore it for about 6 hours yesterday, I took it off for the evening, and no twitches she was completely settled. When her little tail stump is relaxed she is not in pain and it’s happy as Larry.
Acupuncture again next week, we are trying fortnightly for a while.

Well T is now called Magneto the Superdog. She’s so well. Bearing in mind this is with no painkillers, just a magnetic collar and fortnightly acupuncture.
I really hope if magnets are making this much difference it carries on. She’s being an absolute nuisance, rolling round, bouncing, pestering for attention.
Vet is as bemused as me. But happy days!

I'm pleased shes feeling better! Could you share the collar you've bought? Might be worth a shot on my old lady!

Bear in mind I’m totally sceptical about this. I’m desperate, hence trying it. But so far I’m delighted. I’m not expecting it to last, but hoping it does.
