I have an ex brood mare who is now 18/19 (age determined by teeth only!). She’s not quite as robust now as the younger ones, although moves beautifully and loves to be ridden out hacking by her child (to whom she is very attached). Teeth are good.
I’m familiar with joint supplements etc for older horses but that’s not really what she needs - she is more of a poor doer than the others and I wondered more about nutritional support for an older ex brood mare. For most of her life, she was pregnant or lactating and it has taken nearly a year for her to build any muscle. She currently has a standard vit/min supplement and that’s it. In winter she benefitted from Fast Fibre also. Can anyone recommend anything good?
