Hi all - we are new to the Shropshire area and I was wondering if people would be kind enough to share their equine vet experiences - I have 3 horses and would like to register somewhere I know is well thought of! :D

Very much second Maesfen.
Have used Fyrnwy Equine for 30+ years, David Jagger, Jim Tipp and more recently Simon Woods who was a vet at London 2012 3 Day Event.

I would highly recommend David Martin, Brownlow Vets, Ellesmere, Shropshire. Highly experienced and very straightforward and honest, no money grabbing!

SVS is Mark Siddell. He used to work for Frynwy Vets, never used him though, but my daughter has had riding lessons With his wife! Can't recommend Frynwy highly enough. They are always quick to come out if you need them and always happy to give advice over the phone. There are a lot of vets so usually someone free to talk too.

James Bowdler - horse vet in Church Stretton. He has a portable xray machine/scanners etc and has a lovely way with horses. Reasonably priced and has his own horses and couldn't recommend enough.

Personally not a fan of Fyrnwy - have had a couple of bad experiences with them and are very expensive, although the their facilities are impressive.

I've just moved my horse back into Shropshire having been in Staffs for 18 months and Shrops/Staff border before that. My usual vet won't come this far so I'll use Ffyrnwy for routine stuff like vacc's (actually have them coming out in a couple of weeks for that) and emergencies, and would probably take the horse up to my usual vet in Cheshire if I needed a lameness workup or anything like that, or if he needed further treatment for an ongoing issue that they were already dealing with.

Ditto this exactly.

I have finally found a vet after years trying various ones, I rate Simon woods from fyrnwy, I think most of the vets from there are ok but there is one I have had a bad experience with however the practice did sort it for me :)

I've used the baschurch vets, jim tipp ithink, seemed v nice and v quiet with my mare, though for registration/DNA analysis only so cannot comment on what theyare like for anything else. Ihave also used svs/mark diddle, he was good with my old mare and had a couple of visits for vacs too, they dint charge for call out on routine things if pre booked, butto be honest when the bill comes through they aren't any cheaper, they just charged more for the jab so no better off, had some problems with getting hold of them on phone so went back to using my local vets for vacs (smalland large animal/cows). But for anything else would happily recommend nantwich vets, bit pricey but you can take them there if you've transport and not urgent, they were fab when I had to have my shettie pts, very good with him and me at a very sad time and when my old boy had colic and then colic surgery at leahurst, they still ask how he is 5 years after :)

I can't recommend Mark Andrews and Wrexham Vets highly enough, I live five minutes from SVS but have never used them we used Baschurch a few times when Mark was at Newmarket, but you didn't get a personal service with them it seemed to be someone different every time. Mark and all his staff are caring and understanding especially at difficult times with worried owners.
