Oh no! I haven't kept up with the thread and so sorry to read things have deteriorated again after the improvement. What a difficult time for you all. I hope that seeing you will help her feel a little better and that the test results show up something useful.

I had a Lab bitch, aged about 9 (?) who had some sort of seizure one Friday evening. I took her straight to the vet, who was expecting her, and gave her a GE. She stayed there all weekend. Vet suggested to me on the Sunday that take her home. They didn't know what had caused the seizure, she wouldn't eat ir respond to any of the staff, at best, she seemed to be depressed.
I took my older bitch to collect her. She didn't appear to recognise me, the car or the other dog but when I let her off the lead in the house, it was like flicking a switch. She ran all round the house checking that it was as she had left it and then settled down. We never did find out what the problem had been, vet's best guess was a virus.

I hope that when Jessie sees you she perks up enough to be allowed home and then completes her recovery in familiar surroundings.

Mrs J your lack of updates since Sunday is telling all of us just how how awful things must be.

I'm so, so sorry.

When you're ready, absolutely in your own time, the forum will be here to do what it does best, give you support.

Thank you all so much for continuing to support little Jessie. We spent all day yesterday with her, she was very poorly in the morning and has been in ICU now for 8 days. By the afternoon she really perked up and I managed to hand feed her a fairly good serving of the soft squidgy food she is on. The nose tube is making her reluctant to eat from the bowl herself as she struggles to chew and swallow with her head stuck in the bowl. But if I hold it up high she can take it from between my fingers and swallow OK. We also took her outside for a very short walk just 40 paces or so but she was showing interest in her surroundings, more so than in the building.

She fed over night and on her own without being hand fed, so it must be less painful. This afternoon she took a whole feed from my son and he gently groomed her (she stinks and is all matted:() her coat is coming out in handfuls and very dull. He also walked her slowly around the grounds, she had a very long pee and a poo so everything is moving through thank goodness. We think they are keeping her far too hot, they said they will move her out of ICU later this evening onto the normal ward where it is quieter and much cooler for them and also the light level is more subdued. She is literally exhausted but they say she does not actually sleep much just lays or sits there watching everything going on in the emergency room, and the very bright lights are on all day and night, so not conducive to R&R.

They still have not got the final results from the biopsies taken Thursday, we were originally told 24 to 48 hours so a bit worrying. Vet is ringing me later to see if they have come back later this afternoon. If they are Ok and she remains the same tonight they will remove her feeding tube. She will be on several meds for sometime, if all goes well and her temperature is still normal, or even if the biopsies do show something terminal, we will be asking to bring her home and will nurse her here whatever the prognosis.

I can't tell you how stressful this is, they are really fantastic and we do appreciate all they are doing but.......I truly believe she should be home sooner rather than later. We are more than happy to bring her back to them as and when they need to see her but I (we) am starting to feel the hurdle now is her natural enough depression and sadness that lifts within 5 minutes of being with her. Fingers crossed they will agree to this within the next couple of days. 🙁

I am so sorry for poor Jesse and your family going through this, being home might be best in my opinion. I really hope she is on the up soon. Take care and give her a hug from me.
