Vibes for my lovely grey please

So sorry its a tendon faracat :( i know exactly how you feel my superstar 5 yr old is in week one of box rest for a tendon injury :( fingers crossed you've caught it early enough, hugs and vibes going your way x

Not brilliant news, but at least you now know your enemy and have a treatment plan. Best wishes to you and your girl.

Thank you faracat, all my spare healing vibes will be coming in your direction, fingers crossed its a silly small injury to the tendon, they can look worse than they are!

Tendon. :(

It's now hot and swollen so I must have noticed just after she did it. The Vet is very positive as it was caught so early, which is good and she thinks that she's caught herself with the hind hoof. So 6 weeks rest and then the long, slow post tendon injury fittening regime. The Vet is coming back tomorrow and hopefully she will be pleased.

On a side note, the Vet wants me to send my gelding to the stunt yard over the valley for some training with people other than me. It's a brilliant idea, why hadn't I thought of it myself? I feel awful about him going away though. Oh I need to pull myself together.

Horses. :(

My old girl came in 9.5/10 lame one evening. The next day the front leg was swollen but a scan revealed damage to the DDFT but no lesion and the vet thought she had kicked herself from behind. Annoyingly I had put her out in her Wintecs as she had arthritis and was at risk of falling on her knees, but the point of collision was a fraction above where they crossed over behind the knee - grrrr. However she did her 6 weeks box rest and defied the vet's gentle suggestion that given her other problems and her age (22) perhaps I should not proceed, and I was able to ride her for a few months longer before her arthritis got just too bad - she lived another 5 years. But even the vet agreed that she wasn't ready to go just yet when he gave her the all clear. Good luck, if we could do it so can you!

FP - that sounds very similar to Floss' situation. I hope that like your mare she comes right too.

Thanks again to everyone for their kind words.

I hope all goes well Faracat. Our pony severely damaged a hind tendon following a kick. Injury was early April, started gentle work in July and she was able to go hunting by late October and has never had a twinge since, so they do heal.

Thanks so much everyone. :)

She's feeling so much better in herself this evening. She was shouting at me when I went to check her this evening. Yesterday she was so subdued and I'm sure that it was because she was in a lot of pain. The Vet's coming back on Tuesday and hopefully there will have been more progress.

Posts like this make my heart sink!! I'm so glad she's getting better xxx

Oh fingers and toes crossed for you that she makes a speedy recovery, sounds more positive today.
Our oldie who was due to retire pulled a tendon. I watched her do it! She stood there, stamped the ground at my youngster and walked away lame. She recovered fine but hated the restricted area the vet advised. She's now a happy field ornament but sound. I'd be gutted if it were my youngster so know how you must feel. Like I say, everything crossed for you x
