Vibes for poor old Bertie donkey please.

Thank you all so much for the vibes and sympathy, I really do appreciate it. Last night when son administered last bute of the day and final hay feed he assured me he was up and seemed a little more enthusiastic about food and less wobbly on his legs. Unfortunately where we have had to put him while he has the lammi, I can only see him from the house if he stands up, I cannot get down there as it is too boggy for me to navigate. I know I could manage it if I tried but Mr. J and son are adamant I will have to make do with feedback from them for now. I won't argue as I really don't want to be 'that' annoying OAP on top of everything else going on!

Much to my delight this morning at about 7 I heard the old devil roaring for attention. Bertie not Mr. J! 😊 That has to be a really good sign he is feeling chirpier and demanding his breakfast. Son fed and administered the bute, Bertie held on to his sleeve as he was trying to shake his hay out (this is normal Bertie, he is very people oriented and gently hanging onto you so you can't go away and leave him is one of his weird little foibles. What a clown! Anyway, he is much better on his feet but still very pottery trying to walk, much more into his feed today as well. Hopefully this is the start of some sort of recovery. My excellent vet rang again last night and has managed to line up a rescue space for Joseph if the worst happens. But he is hopeful that if we can get him through the next few days on the extra bute that he will recover but obviously it will take time. So we carry on with 3 bute a day for a few days and then if he seems better we are to try reducing it to two a day.

Little Jessie is not too bad but hoping her vet will be able to give her something to perk her up a bit again, she goes back on Thursday unless she worsens before then.

I really think all the powerful H&H vibes must have helped for sure, I feel a little more optimistic for now but obviously won't get my hopes up too much in case the whole thing with both of them goes pear shaped again. Thank you all again. x

Could your family do a video so you can monitor? Or a facetime call?

Thats a good idea Red-1 and if it doesn't stay dry for long enough for the top paddock to drain a bit so I can walk down there I might suggest that. Thanks for the useful suggestion. Having said that, I trust son 100 per cent to run anything and everything by me without hiding the bad bits from me. He has been their main physical and practical carer for the past 18 months or so, and around equines most of his life and also owned his own in the past, so he has enough knowledge to notice any small warning signs that might mean we need the vet back ASAP or to alter any aspects of what we are doing. Hopefully it won't come to that though.
