It’s looking like poor Roxie is having some serious eye problems.
I noticed last week that in bright light her eyes looked a little cloudy so we went off to the vets today

We’re waiting for an urgent referral to an ophthalmologist as they are concerned about retinal detachment as the pressure in her eyes is so high. If it is that, she’s most likely to go blind soon and they think she already has limited vision.
I’m absolutely devastated, she’s only 3 and such a special little dog ?

Thankfully she seems perfectly happy at the moment. I almost left getting her seen as her eyes aren’t bothering her so I’m glad I did book her in!

she was happily flying around on our walk yesterday.
I feel so guilty as I can’t be 100% sure when her eyes went cloudy. Things have been so busy with the new baby, I just feel awful ?

Don’t feel guilty! My spaniel had a thorn in his eye, and I didn’t notice for 2 days as he was still his mental self and showed no symptoms! Fingers crossed the vets can find out the issue. She’s a super cute pup, she looks bouncy.

Fingers crossed xox

Everything crossed here for her. I heard recently about a very clever terrier who had lost his sight and carried a toy around the house. If he felt the toy catch on anything, he adjusted his route. Hopefully it won't come to that for Roxie but please don't blame yourself if the vets can't help her. You took her to vets as soon as you noticed.

Don’t feel bad, can sympathise with how manic life is with a baby! I haven’t kept on top of Mabel’s fur and she’s booked in to be essentially skinned next week as she’s got a few matts I now can’t get out ?

All fingers, toes, paws and hooves crossed here for little Rox.

the vets have called and the ophthalmologists have said that they don’t think it’s the super scary thing so we can wait until Monday.
That makes me nervous but pleased at least that they are confident it can wait. So now just waiting for a call with our appointment time ?

She’s still perfectly happy in herself and can definitely still see!

Thought I’d update after our appointment. Thankfully it’s looking much more positive than anticipated!

There’s definitely a fair amount of cloudiness but at the moment there’s no obvious cause and the pressure in her eyes was normal. We were there for over an hour and a half so they gave her a thorough check over. It was so interesting to watch- at one point they put a plastic lens in her eye to be able to look at all the structures inside. It was sort of like a contact lens for dogs, but it wasn’t flexible. It looked quite creepy actually as it made her eye look huge and bulging, but definitely interesting to see.
We have 10 days of drops 4x per day and we’re back again next week.
Hopefully the drops will help clear some of the cloudiness so they can get a proper look to rule out glaucoma.

Roxie was so chilled about the whole thing, she was such a star.
She was so relaxed she had a little snooze on the floor while we waited for the eye dilating drops to do their job.
