We went back for our follow up appointment today and unfortunately Roxie has Corneal endothelial dystrophy which isn’t curable and will get worse over time :(
They can’t give me a time frame as it is different for every dog, but it’s not great that she’s got it so early. 4D85B2F4-0AB7-42F3-97D8-C07B9B0E7648.jpeg
At least she’s still very happy in herself and the condition isn’t painful at the moment, but it will lead to ulcers in the future.

Sorry to read the update for your little girl. It’s a Hugh blow when they get ill so young.Take things as they come, enjoy her good times and try not to worry for now. This is helping me to take my little girls “last phase “with some acceptance that we are both going to enjoy the good times we still have.
Hopefully the vet will have some suggestions to keep Roxie comfortable .All the best to you both.

Sorry to read your update, T, I hope it's slow in developing, that she can learn to live a happy life without sight, and that you are able to enjoy having her without worrying too much about the future, though I'm sure the last one will be very difficult.

I just thought I'd update this in case anyone is interested/ or reasearching the condition in the future.

Roxie has been having regular checkups at Optivet, but they have now moved her to yearly ones as her eyes are stable and not changing much! Thankfully they aren't painful for her, and it isn't obvious when looking at her that there is anything wrong with her eyes.

She's her usual, high energy, bouncy self, so I'm hopeful that the condition is slow progressing for her and we have many more years of fun ahead!

That’s good news- looking forward to plenty more flying Roxie ears photos!

I just read the title and thought ‘oh no’

Glad she is doing well!
Sorry didn’t mean to concern anyone! She’s currently barking away at the people daring to walk down the street past our house 🤦‍♀️ She’s absolutely fine!

That’s good news- looking forward to plenty more flying Roxie ears photos!
I could fill a whole album with flying Roxie ears photos! 😆

Thought I’d do another update on this as Roxie had her yearly checkup this morning.

Thankfully it’s slow progressing, so no treatment needed currently and we can just carry on as normal for another year ❤️
