Vid of going up steps today

Bless him, that is a fair amount of stairs too.
At my parents old small holding I used to walk them up a few steps to get out on the lane and they all did very well, but we never did that many

We have done other concrete steps in town for years, but not this many steps till a few weeks a go, I led him up by hand the first two times and he was fine, so rode him up since, must have done it at least 6 times now, last time there was a large white van in the way at the bottom, and a digger at the top and men working, he coped with it all bless him :)

Sounds like you've got a real diamond there:)

Does he have to go back down the other side too? That would scare the life out of me, I hate going downhill (that's why I live in Norfolk:D)

No I can use the ramp the other side of the bridge, we did use the ramp this side of the bridge for years, but the workmen have put in this metal thing to stop trial bikes, we got stuck in one of these last year, so steps it had to be...

What a clever Sausage very impressive and as for the clanking bridge:-)

Amazing how they adapt so easily, where I used to keep Vardi we had the Forest either an hour away via road or 10 mins away over a narrow canal bridge with steps going down from it. After 2 months of doing the hour on the roads we all thought "sod it" and started leading the horses over the bridge and down the steps....never a problem apart from once when there was a family of Swans milling about under the canal bridge.

Love the headlight idea:-)

Ah yes swans, ok at a distance but not close up, or landing on the lake, they can make such a performance, for such elegant beautiful creatures, they don't land very smoothly :)

Clever horse! That is ALOT of steps haha
My mare completely crapped herself the first time i took her over the bridge over the dual carriageway, i doubt she'd cope with all that haha. She is getting better though as she now is on a yard on a working farm so is no longer scared of tractors and stuff haha.
I love the headlight idea, takes Hi-viz to a new level haha. More people should do it :)

Wow! I'm very impressed with your ginger sausage :D I do NOT envy you your hacking route

My youngster will go up a steep step but we haven't got anywhere local to try her out with more and as she isn't backed yet I'm a bit restricted as to how far we go on our walks :p .
When I saw his light I must admit I did wonder if it was a mini horse cam or something (do they do them that small?)

No it's just white, low or high.

Fit's on with thin cable ties, snip off excess.

Pedantic were you and my trainer seperated at birth? He has a deep love for using Cable ties and bailer twine.....I have many many photo's that I dare not post on this forum due to the intricate use of bailer twine to make a makeshift pessoa or to tie a bit to a side pull and my favourite to date a makeshift noseband! I keep telling him that he makes my horse look like an Apppleby Reject but he just shrugs lol.

What a great horse, and you two have good communication, he listens to you the whole time by the looks of things. Don't envy you your busy and noisy hacking routes but you're making the best of them and what a solid sensible horse you end up with. Hope you also get to see some tracks and fields and open spaces and hear some birdsong on your rides too!

Oh yes we do get some greenery, I ride along the river path and get to canter as long as no dog walkers around, we do a full circle of about 1.5 hours on "this particular" ride, which gives us a bit of everything, road, river, field, bridge and steps, estate, other bridge, bridleway, back to river road back to yard, you have to make up your own rides pretty much, I have quite a few routes I can to do, any decent rides there are always clanky narrow bridges to cross, particularly if I go through the city center up to another park which has a bridleway through it, that takes about 3.5 to 4 hours, no one else normally goes with me, no bottle LOL :D

What a clever lad he is, hacks that present challanges like those you have, that makes a good horse and partnership, plus it makes things a little more interesting!

Blimey what an amazing horse!! I consider my lad pretty brave but he'd not have coped with riding around there!! I cried the one and only time I rode him over the dual carriageway (which is only busy when the boats come in!!) because he didn't flinch!! Makes me extreamly grateful for where I live, I won't ever complain about the tractors again!!!;)
