What are they like ? Trying a nice sounding 15.2 mare which is out of a cob mare and Warmblood x tb stallion. Nice quality looking allrounder ,competing at Novice dressage. Just interested if this is a nice combination....

I've got one, irish cob mare x hanoverian stallion . Best horse I've ever owned and I'd have another in a heartbeat if it had the same attitude as mine.

Mine's clever with a native trainable brain but slightly more WB reach in her paces and ability for dressage. Jumps well too. Hope the one you try is a goodun :)

Never had one, but knew a superstar. Looked like a cob but moved like a WB without the flash, I.e. paces were nice but not so huge a normal person couldn't sit to them. Rider was competent but nervous, horse was bomb proof, had a fantastic canter and had successfully competed medium dressage. If he hadn't been coloured I might have been tempted to steal him!

I'm really hoping she's as nice as they say. I want a compact small horse with a cob temperament but can still do well at local level but without being high maintenance.

My next horse is going to be an IDxWB; looking for a 3 yr old in Ireland at the moment with the same criteria as you (except ideally a gelding).

We must remember that a cob should be 15.1hh or under perhaps....... do be careful OP if this is your desired upper height limit.

I've got a KWPN x Welsh and she's lovely. She is quite lightly built and has warmblood paces. It can sometimes feel as if I've got two different horses though, depending on whether she's in her spooky on-her-toes mood or in her KWPN make-me mood! :-)

Ive got a Hanovarian cross cob. She's 16.1hh so not a cob height wise but is fantastic. Her mum was a cob for sure as I bought her from the stud.

I Love her and she has a home for life with me. She is Very strong though and no way a novice ride on a sharp day - but on a warm summers afternoon I could put children on her.

That could just be the mare thing tho.

I have a Hanovarian cross cob too, she is 16.2hh and her mum was a cob. She is brilliant, she has more of a pony brain, into absolutely everything and obsessed with food! As others have said, she does have two ways of going, depending on her mood, cob trot or the big Hanovarian trot but she isn't sharp or silly - you can give her a couple of weeks off and she is no different to when she has been ridden 5 times a week.

Good luck with the one you are going to see.

I have a 15.3hh gypsy cob x (not sure what but some have said warmblood and others have said TB).
She is my horse of a life time and will be with me forever. She has her quirks but that makes her more lovable. She competes successfully at 1* level and has the scope to go intermediate but because she wont make the time and is going to be classed as an 'older lady' next year, I have decided there is no point in pushing her and would rather keep her where she is happy and confident.
In my opinion cob x's are the best of both worlds!

I have a WB x Welsh D and he is great, I wouldn't change him for the world. It has taken me about a year to get him to where he needs to be schooling wise, and it's not been easy a lot of the time, but after persevering, he is my ideal ride.

Lovely flashy paces but with a (mostly) sensible head on him.

Don't get me wrong, he can have his moments and take the worst parts of Welsh and WB and throw his toys out of the pram but never anything dangerous, just a little daft sometimes!

He also jumps like no other horse I have ever ridden!

I would definitely recommend getting one :)
