Was stopped today for wearing Hi Viz!

I had a word with a local police officer about it, he was under the impression that the vests do indeed imply that you are 'maybe' a police officer, therefore it could be argued that you were trying to impersonate one! It could be upheld in a court of law, and the law as we know, can be an ass.....

He suggested I stick to my beacon-type stuff I wear already!

My OH is a copper and he thinks those tabards are brilliant. He even offered to buy me one...
He reckoned that if you were going at such a speed you mistook it for a police tabard and police horse then you were going too fast ;)
I also believe that the manufacturer of those tabards has cleared their use with the police :)

Incidentally, it may not be the case that an insurance company won't cover you in the case of an accident if you weren't wearing hi-viz, but that any compensation or insurance payout would be reduced as you may be viewed as being contributory negligent by not wearing hi-viz. It is my understanding that in the event of a car accident your damages can be reduced if you were not wearing a seatbelt and wearing one would have meant your injuries were lesser. I imagine the same applies to hi-viz in the event of an accident, and that is what people mean.

Policeman married to a lawyer... we are a right pair ;) :D

Ooh i love your exercise sheet Kate and Spotlight! Where did you get that from? It doesn't look too heavy.

Thanks :) its from Shires, its lovely, quite light, waterproof, V bright!, really well priced as well, I looked around for AGES before i bought it coz some of them are really expensive.

I go out in hi viz bomber jacket, exercise sheet, ww boots, flashing tail guard, neck strap and "ears"

I too have been stopped to comments like "can't miss you" the best one was from a group of firemen in a big shiney truck :D

Never go out with anything less now (just in case ;) )

Besides it gives the drivers chance to see us incase we are having an "eppisode" in the street
