Was this a mongrel or a breed?

I saw a lovely dog yesterday who rang some bells that he might not just have been a mongrel.

Short legs, not quite dachshund short. Over-big dachshund length. Wire haired. Brown with tan highlights. Head more like a Shnauzer, maybe, than a Dachshund.

Was he "just" a mongrel? He was lovely whatever.

Wire haired Dachshund?

He didn't look like he had a pointy face and he seemed a bit big?
We have one round here. I asked the owner what breed he is and was surprised to learn that he's a wire haired Dachshund. He is much bigger as in longer, a little taller and definitely stockier than your average Dachshund. He's definitely wire haired! He's a dark grey/brown.

I really like the look of Teckels too but read somewhere that they can be difficult to train
Does anyone know if that's true?

Always something to be learned on AAD 🙂. I love daxis, but hadn't heard of Teckels before. Are they slightly longer legged than regular daxis - might they be more robustly constructed? I really like the look of the google Teckel 😍.

That's what confused me. My first thought was wire dachshund, then I thought .. too big, too hunky, legs are 25% too long. Huge character, from the looks of him.

Only chatted for a minute as we passed, but I will ask when I see her again.( when you Google husky cross theres quite a few choices)

I'm being sarcastic, they're not recognised by any legitimate breed registries. I know people in NL who breed them. There was more money in it than working GSDs, even though it was a hugely successful kennel.
