Does anyone wash their horses haynets? I have just put 12 into the washing machine as I regularly soak my hay and they looked and felt so grubby ?
I used to do similar when I soaked hay. they do get pretty gungy then. now i only do if they've managed to pull the net down and poo on itYes, i did when i soaked hay in them. After a while they’d get a residue build up in the fibre, which would stink to high heaven if you dare bring them up to your nostril and take in a lungful of the ‘aroma’!
i washed them in a large trug with v. Hot water and resulted in a deep reddish brown liquid. I’d run them through a couple of water changes, until clear. I was amazed how much gunk was in just 4 nets to be honest!
Horses sense of smell being superior to ours, made me wonder how horrid it must have been to eat from them.

...(she now only has velcro fasteners like kids who can't do up their shoelaces !)
I am laughing way too much at this, Skylla isn't even allowed a haynet now after one to many stringing her own legs up in it incidents!
