We have an Amigo No Fill which is a few years old and still waterproof. I only wash our rugs by hand in plain water and never reproof. All the rugs are several years old and still waterproof.

I bought a second hand Horsewear Wug for £30 from eBay and it’s brilliant.

Don’t waste your money on a Ruggle one - mine leaked like a sieve.

A friend bought a panda one no make on it, just bought for the pattern. Waste of money. There are loads of these patterned rugs that are cheapy rubbish and have never been tested on a horse. Same as the brushing boots sparkly or patterned and fall to bits after a few washes.

The Weatherbeeta no fill butterfly pattern is definitely waterproof. Joe has been completely dry in spite of lots of rain recently. The dark blue is not quite so good.

I have Premier equine for the horses, their more expensive ones with no problems. For the donkeys I have Bucas, mainly because their shape fits their odd little bodies better but they are also completely waterproof. All kept out 24/7.

I have a Weatherbeeta 1200d freestyle which is completely waterproof, not sure how the newer range compares.

Also got a Rhino Wug lite which is good, sadly too big for current horse.

Ones that leaked badly were Pessoa, Gallop and Amigos, all were 600d.
