Waterproof over trousers?!

I don't recommend Shires. For the price I expected better. Felt damp this morning and as soon as I sat down to drive home they wicked the water INWARDS so I was actually wet when I got home!

Thanks for this as I was looking at the lower end of the market..did make me snigger!! Hope you've dried out now.

My Horseware overrides have never been waterproof, whereas my Mark Todd Reinga trousers (which are padded I'm afraid) didn't let water in for about three years, they keep me warm and dry (getting on a bit now, must be six years old so I get a few minor leaks) have good pockets and I love the snow gaiters! My Berghaus walking waterproof over trousers keep me dry but aren't great for riding in, OH says its like sitting on Teflon!

I have just bought some waterproof trousers from Aldi for £6.99, ive not got the skinniest of legs so a little tight for riding in, fine for around the yard. If you have skinny legs then they would be fine for you, got zip pockets at front too. For the money they are great.

I always used monsoon parlour trousers-I never had a leak until I fell off in brambles as put holes in them. You can get them at mole valley. I loved them for riding in

Decathlon have now brought out waterproof Jodhpurs! Tried them out yesterday can't say how they wear out as I have just got them but cosy fleece lining kept me super warm and the outer is a sort of flexi leathery type of stuff and was brilliant! Can't fault them so far best buy of the year!

I have some peter storm ones very waterproof. Not too shiny or noisy, have ridden in them and not slippy. Try regatta outlet online have some good bargains. I got a waterproof coat for £15 and when I say waterproof I mean waterproof its fab.

Such a good point..not noisy (or slippy)!!! And Lintel for the waterproof jodhpurs.... Thank you both - a great help! I'm still drying out my stuff from this morning...determined to get this one sorted.

I have had some dead cheap ones that were fab, but maybe not so breathable, then splashed out on some Mark Todd ones. They were not padded, but had an inner and outer liner. They were definitely designed for riding with a smart grippy inner leg.

The outer material was indeed grippy, but I fond them quite useless for riding sprightly baby horses in winter as the inner liner was slippery against the outer. Hence the outer trousers could stay stuck to the saddle, but you could easily almost dislodge with the inner lining. I just use them as yard trousers now, which is a pity as they look very smart and are waterproof.

These look brilliant and a great price..I had never heard of this company. Are they true to size? Really nice colour too.

I've had these for about a month now, and I don't know how I survived winter without them before! They do feel a bit strange on the outside, but the fleecy inside is lovely and so warm. They have stayed waterproof through a few real soakings, and wash up nicely. I also like the stretchy bottoms instead of velcro (which I hate). Shame they only come in one colour!

Size wise they are a bit strange - if you have large hips and a small waist, the waistband will be very large on you! I normally get size 12 and bought the 42 on the advice of the shop (they ordered them in for me), but I should really have got the 40, as I spend a lot of time pulling them up! I'm not too worried, I liked them so much I will be buying a second pair and will go for the smaller size!

Can anyone find a link to these in women, black, size 14, I cant see any in stock anywhere. Thanks

The best ones I have ever had were Ornella Prosperi's. Unfortunatly they have changed their design anf they are now naff!

The Jomulti ones are hit and miss, some times they are fab sometimes completely useless.
