I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm finding the current weather really hard to cope with. We've been frozen solid here for about 3 weeks, and then had about 8" snow last night. My poor horse is currently living on his own, as my livery decided to move her mare for a couple of months to a friends who has an indoor school (wish I'd gone too now!). I keep him at my parent's house (Mum used to ride but is now in her mid 70's so not really willing to do much to help with bored lively 7 year old!) which is 10 miles from home. I work full time, often having to leave home by 6am to get to work. I'm just getting into a complete panic about how I'm going to manage him with driving 20 mile round trip twice a day and turning him out in all weathers sometimes at 6am or earlier.
How do other people in a similar situation cope? It doesn't help that he is the messiest horse I've ever owned , so I seem to spend hours each day just mucking out and defrosting taps outside on my own. So any tips that might make life a bit easier gratefully received!
