Couldn't see a thread an I actually hav plans! I'm going to spectate at a Joe Midgley clinic Saturday and Sunday and I'm very excited. If I think it would be good for her I'd like to try and take D now I know there are semi regular clinics nearish but I don't have transport and I think I need to do prep going away from home. Taking our usual glacial baby steps we might be ready in 2 years 😅 . Last evening ride ( probably) Friday.

Having completely forgotten the clocks change and that HS2 were shutting a major road I booked in for a charity ride a decent drive away. Regretting it a bit now so will give myself a kick up the backside to go.

Lesson today with an instructor I haven't seen for about 7 years! She mainly does mid week so I'm wiggling days around at work.

Otherwise digging out the stable that flooded last weekend and is now growing mushrooms....

Have a lovely weekend everyone - I'll probably be sulking until March now.

I’m being permitted the reins of the super driving cob for the first indoors of the season on Sunday (rara also driving him cos she said she’d just be jealous otherwise 😅)
But in the 6ish months since I last drove him she’s added quite a few more buttons that I definitely don’t need 😂😂, and a new carriage whose steering means no more wiggling through cones at the last minute…

We did have a dressage lesson last week that was really good and helpful 🤞

I hope we get to see pics and vids @ester - I love seeing your and rara's driving adventures!

Exciting weekend here - I'm taking Sammy to my trainer's for an overnight tomorrow, then we have our first comp together on Sunday! Also my first BD in over three years, eek (at least it's at the same level...). His owner posted a FB memory the other day of them doing their first PSG together 4 years ago and getting over 70%...I'll be delighted if we get 65% in a Medium test 🤣

This weekend is really busy with non horse stuff. I'm about to go take BH for a Thursday fast ride as I know he'll be neglected.

Friday we may be doing something exciting to get the new slow hay feeder ready for market. It will be thoroughly tested under tyring circumstances. I think it'll do well as it has withstood Rigsby 🤣 I also have a builder coming to tidy up where I had new down pipes and the render is holey.

Saturday is Parkrun and a cat's funeral and family get together. Sunday we hope to finish the garden with paving, before the ground totally turns to mush.

Good luck to all who are doing exciting horse stuff!

@Cloball ooh have fun. Joe is fab! Are you getting a Joe/Sophie double act at this one?

@SEL I'll join you in sulking because I am not at Speetley. Made more painful by the sizeable PAYG and Day ticket costs of not being at Speetley! At least my entry was refunded.

I'm idly hprse-window shopping, while knowing I can;t afford a horse. And Joe Midgely is coming to teach someone else on Lottie. Don't know whether to watch or just leave them to it....

I'll play with Mylo and do exra hours to earn money to fill that empty stable.

I would love to watch him , or have a lesson but I can't seem to get a response from him° enjoy and please report back!

Our yard has an Hallowe'en Treasure Hunt on Saturday, in costume. We don't know anything other than that we're riding out in pairs, and that it's about 9km. The Ballerina Mare, who has more of a Whale Mare figure at the moment, is headed out with her usual hacking buddy (and us riders, of course). I've got all the bits for my costume, but I have to make it tomorrow: I'm re-visiting the "horse fly" I did with the Spooky Pony many years ago, except I think the costume itself will be a bit better, and the fake blood will be much more visible on a white-ish grey horse than on a bright bay! I'll try to get pix...

We have an open morning for our house sale tomorrow if it still goes ahead. Was meant to have the RICS valuation yesterday but they let us down so we have it today.
Going to visit Mum after work tonight for 20 mins, now I'm over my cold. I get 20 mins as by the time I get to the train station, jump in the car and fly to the home, sign in and rush up to the residents lounge I only have 20-30 mins before her tea is ready and they don't really like us hanging about then. Not seen her for 8 days, so can't wait to see her.

Tomorrow is going to be the gym at some point, same for Sunday. And of course we will visit Lari, probably tomorrow afternoon again. :)

Have fun folks..... hopefully in a few months it will be me saying "I'm taking ******** up to the local arena for a jump around". Can't wait.

It's a quiet one after last weekend's busy show weekend. I have a bit of a social life as I'm meeting up with my horsey pals, who, for various reasons, aren't out and about at events at the moment.
Hoping to hack out with YO at some point, she does the best hacks I'm learning a new route nearly every time :)

I'm supposed to be hacking tomorrow but feeling a bit wobbly this week. On the one hand don't want to not try as regular practice makes the progress. On the other, maybe just want something less challenging.nir challenging in a different way. Not sure.
Well, I went. I hacked. I smashed it. And I loved it!

I used a strategy that's been helping me through some difficult days this week. Which is basically write down things I am looking forward to on that day, even in the crappy bit, not just waiting until the end of the day or the next day or some other distant time. I wrote down 'things I am looking forward to on my hack'. It really did help.

My instructor rode out with me instead of walking this time. I was a little worried at first but it was great and that's a good step if I want to do more trotting and eventually cantering out and about. I'm enjoying the double benefit of feeling less nervous and when the nerves are there, dealing with them better.

I booked to do a local show on Sunday on a whim as I fancied getting out, and then remembered that I have just given Dex a trace clip, so we are going to look like numpties, but it's all good experience for him and it gets the trailer out so it's not standing all winter. Luckily I'm not particularly competitive!

I REALLY enjoyed watching Joe Midgley at the Horsemanship Showcase, so have a fab time OP!

Gah... I rode my freestyle and it is 5mins 20secs.
I need to somehow trim it down under 5 mins 😥

Urgh, I rode a new test too, and it's too long as well.

I can't remove anything as I'm only getting in the required moves, going to have to condense it.

The hazards of riding a very small pony - we don't cover the ground like a big horse!

Same, we only have the required moves and no optional ones.
I am on a 17hh horse though!

Just a thought before you panic, is the 5.20 from halt to halt? Remember you've got 20sec for the entrance.

I've just checked again, sadly 5.10 from halt to halt so still need to shave a bit off 😥

Will need to write it out and see where I can shorten it down. Annoying as it all flows really well!

Dont worry, 10 sec is easy to take off without really changing the floor plan, just dont go quite to either end of the arena, that sort of thing, no rewrite required.

Riggers had a little ride out today...

I had my builder back, and he painted the inside of the stable white so we could take photos of the prototype new slow hay feeder. Sadly, it is a damp day and the paint didn't quite dry...

I didn't think BH would mess with the wall...

It was only emulsion, I don't suppose it will take long to clean off his snout!!!
