Well thats put paid to my weekend plans - got as far as my lesson, J was absolutely brilliant & I was so so pleased with him - then right at the end I came off over a fence. Thought it hurt a bit -3 hours in Gloucester A&E and cracked ribs diagnosed, incredibly painful and the codeine isn't touching it! So annoying when he was such a total star, love him to bits :)

Ooh, ouchy! Just take it easy.

Poor you ! I know how painful that is. Maybe see if you can get a stronger painkiller from the doctor because you need to be able to breath pain free to keep your lungs moving properly. Take it steady

That's just such bad luck .
Hope you can get some sleep broken ribs are horrid .

Good Luck to all those out competing and horse hunting this weekend

we have a mixed bag, XC schooling tomorrow at Tweseldown with my boy, then family stuff Saturday and likely similar on Sunday
but i will fit in some riding time every day hopefully - either hacking/schooling depending how I feel

looking forward to some time out of work

Happy Easter to all!

We were at Tweseldown schooling yesterday too! The yellow one was very good, and jumped everything nicely, without any silliness, and the spotty one was very naughty and nappy indeed!

Lovely horse, well done scats.

Ah thank you very much. She was diagnosed with PSSM last year and up to even as recently as 6 weeks ago, couldn't sustain a 10 minute slow-paced warm-up, infact, things were so bad at one point that she couldn't manage half a lap of the school in trot.

Now, through a change of diet and a massive shake-up in the way we approach ridden sessions, she managed a whole test without becoming symptomatic. I'm sure people watching the warm-up thought we were useless! We did 10 minutes walk, then had a small long and loose trot on each rein. I picked her up into a contact for a lap of trot on each rein and then we walked the next 10 minutes until our test. We must have looked like we were out on a leisurely hack. But it worked. She came alive in the ring and gave me 100%. Today will be about smothering her with kisses!

My favourite picture of the day..

Beautiful picture Cortez.
Lev hope you get some stronger painkillers and feel better soon.
Scats love the feathers.

I have just driven my new lorry for the first time with DP on board. Went about 4 miles from home and hacked with friends then boxed home. He was such a pro about it all considering he suffers from separation anxiety and I was expecting a stressed pony but we had 2 lovely canters with him beautifully balanced, responsive and no bucking between transitions. Tomorrow I am going to take B in the box to the lorry park and then hack home which will be another first as he only arrived Monday, I've ridden him in company once and tomorrow we will be alone.

Feel I have achieved some milestones and come a long way today.

One of these days I will have to go adventuring across the Irish sea and go and watch one of Cortez's demonstrations. Fabulous photo.

Sorry to hear that - not Jay, I hope.

But good luck with the search.

Sadly, yes the Jay Man. The vet did think originally that he could help, and after treatment we did get last summer hacking round the lanes, which I loved. Jay's last tango :-) Over winter though he got worse, and was starting to look more wobbly on a more regular basis, so it was time to PTS as he was also grumpy. I had hoped if we slogged it out to summer he may come round, but it was not to be.

Ouch, I hope that feels better soon!

Picking up new horse later on today, then doing our regular demonstrations on Sunday with one of the boys:

Congratulations! I hate new lorry adventures. Next time will seem easier I am sure :-)

My weekend summed up in one picture...

Now away to catch up on some sleep before going to watch my friend compete at a hunter trial tomorrow!!

Congratulations!

My weekend plans have been scuppered!

My weekend plans were scuppered too, the horse I was viewing was sold off video yesterday! No matter, I have only been desperate for another one since last month when we lost Jay. I think up until then I always hoped he would make a miraculous recovery.

Red-1 sorry to hear you lost Jay. I searched for a few months for a new pony and following two failed vettings I upped the budget and looked for a younger model. Ended up with a cracking little Connie who flew through the vetting so they are out there, it just takes a bit of sifting through the rubbish, and there is a lot of rubbish. I initially discounted B but am so glad I drove 3 hours to see him. Fingers crossed you find your next horse soon.

Well done Jenni and scats :)

Sorry red :( so frustrating. ..

My 5yo got to go sj last night and did his very first timed jump off... Not only did he remember the two courses, but he rode it all himself.. one of only two in the class, the others mummies all grabbed them and did JO being led, so I was very proud of him. He's v competitive though, and not pleased with being 6th..

Hubby was away fence judging all day today :( but I did just about get to ride new connie in the school before dark..

Love him, he's great fun..

Fiona

Just popping in while I have a cuppa & feet up for 10 mins :o Supposed to be sorting out my freestyle music for a run through tomorrow so I really must pull my finger out!

Looks like everyone (mostly!) is having a great weekend, sorry for those who have had plans scuppered and congrats to everyone else :D

Good lesson on Friday, cob feeling like a proper grown up horse and rather excited about what is to come, changes are more uphill than downhill these days and she did some good work on collection.
Wheeeeeee!

Millie went Proper Showing yesterday, not my fave activity I'm afraid to say as it was a lot of hanging about. Only did one class in the end as they were running late and I had to seriously whizz home in order to get to Hartpury dressage for the gala evening but not too shabby result

apparently we should have picked up a sash for the talent spotting thing but being a total newb I had no idea what was going on :o we'll learn.

Then super evening (and a nice sit down!) watching Inter 1 Freestyle and feeling inspired rather than demoralised... also a fab demo of sympathetic training of a very talented young horse by Emile Faurie.
Today has been teaching and riding, should get my act together and go and hack mine out & pack the lorry AGAIN for tomorrow

Well done everyone out and about! :D

I've been quiet this weekend on a 'hackamore holiday' after a dentist visit earlier this week, it started horrendously, but it seems to have clicked now and we are getting the same work as in our normal bridle, some niggles we've had in the simple changes are still apparent so in a way its made me look at alternative causes rather than just assume its her not accepting the contact, its been very enlightening.

I have also wasted 12 hours of this fine bank holiday watching '13 Reasons Why' its brilliant - if you have netflix watch it. if you have teenagers watch it and get them to watch it. Its hugely eye opening . . .

Suggesting that teenagers watch an incredibly vivid suicide, on an open forum is a moronic thing to do.

Hannah Baker's 'descent' was atypical of most people's struggle with depression. I'm not going to say that it was portrayed wrongly.

Experts, who the show consulted advised against showing the suicide as a result of lots of research that shows that showing a suicide increases the amounts of suicide committed.

We are going jumping tomorrow. I'm hugely excited as I've barely been out for the past 15 months due to my all encompassing MSc!

We did a bit of this...

And I was very glad the fence wasn't any bigger!

But we also cleared some...(and these are big in my book!)

Well done everyone, have loved reading your posts and some super pictures :)

Mission accomplished for me.

Great cavaletti night on Friday.
Decided to do two days of xc training, yesterday and today. Starting to feel less rusty, practice, practice, practice :) Roll on the next event on Saturday!

Great pics bernster, good result despite the whoopsie :D
Knackering weekend, now got feet up and contemplating wine!

Kira did good at arena hire, the freestyle will have to be advanced medium I think as the canter music will only work with changes instead of the 2 lots of simple changes previously planned.. entries in and I'm searching for my brave pants. It's suddenly got a bit serious! Lol!

Little school for Millie this afternoon, bit silly as I was shattered but got 4 twos (forgive the little mistake) on the long side, very very much a work in progress as this is only 2nd attempt and until last month she didn't believe that true changes were a thing!
Booked her in for a lesson next month by which time they should be more through :wink3: but blind leading the blind and having a good laugh :D

... and collapse!

We completed the camp and after 2 mini meltdowns from me (nugz spied the XC'ers and wanted to play, not do boring flatwork, so he threw in some shapes and piaffe a la unexploded bomb) we got some pretty okay work done :) In fact, so much so, I am trying to enter my first BD next month!

'scuse the leg and short length - I go for feeling secure when he's feisty, rather than correct :(
