What are we all up to then?

Bit cooler here today which is much welcomed esp after Kira's dressage-in-an-oven on Monday.

Millie is pinching one of Kira's lesson bookings today, *so* looking forward to this as I really didn't think we'd get back to this point. She has her Area Festival a week today and has been on changes bootcamp - i've struggled to get her to jump through one way without a tap on the bum so hoping for a few last minute tips. It won't matter if she does rubbish ones thought tbh, all of her work is better than it was before she was off last year so I'm grinning permanently anyway ;)

Had kind of planned to take her to a show on Sunday but I think i'm going off the idea as it'll be on grass and the ground is like concrete. Plus she's busy next week anyway, so happy to spare her legs.

Kira has a quiet weekend, just needs to do some stretchy-bendy work and then might see if I can sneak her off to the mega arena that we borrowed last weekend to run through some AM tests.

Have fun all

I'M BACK :lol::lol:

Everyone is sound again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So Skylla can go for a hack and I can pray for sense from an ever growing stronger baby horse who is now worryingly tall :eek3:.

Topaz is in bootcamp for fitness and to loose the weight she's piled on, vet wants a couple of weeks just fitness work before we ask for anything more, so might head up to the gallops as he suggested canter work would be best for her :).

We're very grateful for the cooler weather too, hope you get those changes nailed you've waited long enough for this!

Non horsey weekend for me.
Off sailing early friday morning. Depart Ipswich friday 8am. Visit Lowestoft then West Mersea returning to Ipswich late sunday.
On the horsey plus side I have my first Horseball training session next week :)

I had my saddles checked this week - Callie's is spot on, sadder hasn't seen her for a while as her employee has done the last couple of checks and said she looks really strong, with far more muscle than she's ever seen on her. Eddie is at the limit of his saddle, we have a temporary fix for the going left issue and she is going to put some saddles to one side for me and bring them back in August. I'm happy about this as I never really liked his saddle.

I've got today and tomorrow off, I'm frantically writing uni assignments (2,000 words on wound healing anyone, or 7,000 words on why aren't men becoming nurses?) but then I have a jumping lesson tomorrow night with Eddie.

I am supposed to be going to an Unaff ODE @ Smallwood on Sunday; but the ground like you say is like concrete :( - will be doing a rain dance

God I've barely recovered from last weekend yet! Are we really back here already?

Nothing doing this weekend. Seriously dull. I already have withdrawal symptoms.

nearly!
I've really struggled this week, EVERY day has felt like Friday. Today feels like Friday. I hope tomorrow also feels like Friday, otherwise I'll be really put out.

Yay for changes and sound horses MP and AH!

I also had my saddles checked this week. Turns out Pocholo is now too wide for Indio's posh dressage saddle :(. Breaking out of the field every night probably hasn't helped..! So I'll either be borrowing a dressage saddle or using our GP for...

...our first Elementary test on Sunday! Eek! It's E45, which is all well within our capabilities as long as I convince P in the warm up that he really does want to listen to me.

Also very excitingly Indio can start work this weekend after 13 weeks! Or not so exciting as we'll be starting with some 20 minute walk hacks :P

Hooray, both sound, AH! Sorry, I must have missed something as didn't realise they were both out of action :( but yay, they are back! Gallops sounds fun for sure.

Great news about Millie, MP! Will you take Bowser in for changes-boot-camp?? Not that he can do them yet... but I will die happy if we ever get to that stage! He def has them in there somewhere I think, he's done a few accidental ones in the past when protesting to my use of the whip :D

I'm pleased to say that I do have plans for this weekend! Bowser very much back in work and transporter friend is back from holiday so we're off for arena hire on Sunday to jump a course/fillers.

Did some jumping on Tuesday, the first time he's seen poles in probably 5 or 6 weeks, if not longer... he was very... jolly :D and a weird feeling from me that I've never had. I wanted my coach to put the jumps UP!? We didn't, kept it small as first jump since before the kick. But by the end, I was pining for bigger jumps!? WTF!?!? :O

Hope everyone is able to sort out saddle woes and you manage to find something to do, JFTD! Best of luck with first Elem, Jiffy!

Great news MP and AH :) x x

After a big show two weekends on the trot, we have nothing entered this weekend.

My son is 6, and his party is on Sunday, so Saturday will be taken up getting ready for that.

Might take him jumping Friday evening up to the riding club, though hubby is on jury service this week so depends on when he finishes I suppose.

I had another great lesson on Fionn the baby connie yesterday, so he will probably just get hacked out over the weekend.

Fiona

Thanks for the yays .

Skylla was hiding an abscess which took the best parts of 3 weeks :eek3: to burst out and Topaz had a sore back, then no action from the first vet so I booked her in for a work up with Mr. Fantastic vet. She basically has super mild KS (nothing touching but inflammation and some bony changes) so back into work and then we can determine if we need to inject them.

Embo, jumps should always be put up ;) bigger the better, well done you :). Good luck Jiffy you'll do great! HBII it is now raining in Manchester so hopefully it will soften up for you.

Been a quiet few weeks for me too, what with work, pulled shoes and then F felt a teeny bit stiff but not justifying vet intervention just yet. So he's had lots of horsey spa work done to try and identify/treat whatever was causing in it. Found a few minor things, especially with the dentist, which could explain it, so just goes to show that you might think your horse is up to date with checks (which he was) but it's really useful to do those basic checks again.

Will see how he feels this weekend and hope that's done the trick.

Glad it's cooler but the ground is a worry. Have fun everyone !

Our dressage instructor had to cancel last weekend :( so we're going to her clinic on Saturday instead! I'm hoping to run through my upcoming test and get some feedback and pointers on what we need to work on. I've never ridden inside the boards or spooked at the flowers so it should be fun lol

Good luck to everyone out competing, that will be me next weekend :)

Off to Hickstead tomorrow and Saturday so riding early on those days then a lesson on Sunday. Hoping to pick up some super pro show jumper vibes that transfer to my lesson. Or more likely just ooh over lots of nice things I can't afford!
Good luck all :)

We've had a quiet few weeks as been manic at work and was away almost all last week at the conference I'd been organising, so just picking up again now - loath to plan too much as I'm off on holiday the first week in July so giving the baby pony time for some growing / brain chill until I get back :)

Fairly quiet horsewise this weekend, other than hopefully a lesson with Brian on Saturday. We're sheep showing at the local County show on Sunday (much more fun than taking the horses!!)

I am, however, going to have a go at jousting this evening!!! Very much looking forward to it, will report back tomorrow!

Ive lost some of my mojo after having a lovely weekend away last weekend (non-horsey), and the hot weather this week. All ive done is a quick 20 min hack once this week. Need to find it soon as having a bash at an area festival next month but tbh, right now, i c.b.a. Oh dear . Maybe you'll all inspire me ?

haha! I never thought she would get to this stage either, and trainer admitted yesterday that during the many many hours of struggling together with her that he didn't think she'd crack it either :D:o

We had a great time yesterday, she's just such a fun horse to ride, fits like an old slipper. We did zillions of changes in the patterns that are in AM91 (short diagonals, after half passes, and after mediums) and she only missed 2 when the canter got a bit long. No whip, no drama, just brilliant. Can't express how that feels :o I dare say it will all go to pot next week :p

Obligatory smiley horse photo

Lorry getting its new floor tomorrow now so no impromptu trips for Kira after all. Needs must :)

oooh ooh ooh I can join in :D

If he looks ok and it isn't pissing with rain I'm going to hack Frank down the road to do a veteran class tomorrow ;), just packing to go home now :)

Well my weekend started with an amazing XC/grass SJ lesson today. It feels like something has finally clicked in Henry's brain after our ODE last weekend (and a few recent outings). He was forward, taking me to the fences, didn't stop or run out once, picking up beautifully over the fences... It finally feels like he's really enjoying working and jumping, and has sort of gone "ooohhh ok that's what I need to do! This is fun, let's do more!". Having a run through of our dressage test tomorrow, and then another ODE on Sunday :)

Somehow I am going xc schooling with 2 crazy kamikaze kids and a friend who is jumping her cob around metre tracks for fun. If I survive I'll report back. Planning to hack them out before we go so they are tired :o

Sounds like everyone's having lots of fun at the moment. I've been avoiding C&T a bit as I'm just completely demotivated to ride at the moment, then suddenly found my mojo almost 2 weeks ago, and about 2 hours later fell over while getting on a bus and have really hurt my knee. My good knee, that is, so I now have 2 painful and not very well functioning knees, and haven't been riding.

That's absolute balls for you :( I've always claimed buses are evil. This is proof.

I lamped my [bad] knee today too and am consequently limping, but at least I did it having a hooley on the pony. I've definitely given up on the idea of doing anything fun this weekend though, between the limp and the loss of our one remaining cat this morning :(

I went for my lesson. Went well - jumped some new scary stuff, some slightly skinny stuff, and some bigger stuff. Also bucked, squeaked, scared the pants off someone else, and held his breath for ages.

Rubbishy blurry video stills I'm afraid
