Yikes, Thursday again ;)

what is everyone up to?

Kira's off for a lesson this afternoon, she's had a quiet week so far since we got back from Bishop Burton, just a short stretchy day yesterday so hopefully she will be feeling full of beans.

Then on Saturday we're taking part in a demo for BD South West at AM Dressage, should be fun :) I've been told that they have another horse who looks a lot like her just at the start of its training so it will be fun to compare them :D If anyone is in the area and at a loose end then I highly recommend these demos, I'm usually on the other side of the barrier watching agog :p

Salty has been on the back burner for ages so I might try and get her out for some arena hire on Sunday :)

Have fun everyone

Have a good lesson with K and hopefully an arena hire with Salty, MP!

Hopefully... Sitting on my horse for the first time in 105/106 (I've lost count!!) days since I broke my leg at the start of summer!!!! Everyone please cross fingers and toes that it goes okay!

Good luck for the Demo MP sounds like lots of fun, but can there really be another Kira out there?
Hope its fun and non eventful first ride back too RO

We're of to the horse adventure park at Collingham for the weekend to tackle a few obstacles, the weathers not looking great though so I shall be hoping the forecast is wrong :)
First stay away in my new trailer for me so hope I like it.

Woo hoo, enjoy yourself! And I hope Chilli behaves :D.

Have fun with Kira and Salty MP :).
A horse adventure park sounds intriguing Alibear, I'm guessing it's a TREC type setup?

I want to ride this weekend but don't fancy being reared and bronced with again so will see how nightmare horse is behaving when I get to the yard. If she plays up again it'll be full MOT time and then, assuming nothing is found, off to a pro for a few months. She's started being tricky for the YO too so I'm guessing that she's bored as she's done basically nothing for 18 months. Any one want a free (fat) horse? :p

Ohh enjoy getting back on and don't be tempted to do too much!

We're going to the RoR South East Championships to do a couple of Prelim test which should be fun!

I’m always lurking on the weekend plans and never posting so thought it was about time i changed that.

We are off to a showjumping competition on Sunday. Friend is riding my pony and it’s his first time at 70cm. I’m planning to give it a crack at that height next month. He seems to jump better the higher he goes and cleared 90cm with ease with my friend a couple of weeks ago but not sure I’m there yet. This time last year neither pony or I had jumped for over 6 years so it’s been a bit of a journey but he’s been a superstar and never let me down.

Good luck everyone

I’ve not done much for the last month as been getting fixed after our very flat performance at Petplans. After some rest, physio and a saddle check we had a good outing last night, so fingers crossed for Saturday. The BD Scottish championships. Eek.

I rarely comment, but for 1st time in ages I'm going to a comp. DTM, to run though my test before BRC Champs, then in the evening going to a different arena to do a Pairs DTM demo.

Me thinks pony will not be impressed, going to 2 different places in one day, lol.

Ooh so,e great weekend plans going on already. Fabulous!

PC ODE on Sunday. The class I’m in is for 13 years plus so at least I’m not up against 12yo’s this time haha. Main aim is to try to get round the xc without being eliminated, I believe in having low expectations!

Good luck everyone!

We have a 2 day competition down south, dressage and show jumping. Hubby is judging so I am going along too. Might as well make the most of it after all ;)

It's going to a big and busy weekend, but I get to catch up with one of my friends for dinner so I'm looking forward to that, and the ponies!

Eventing at West wilts, Boggle hasn’t seen the inside of a school bar showjumping lesson for 4 weeks and has schooled a handful of times over summer so will be interesting to see if our dressage continues to worsen 🙈

quiet one for us show-wise - taking Blue to Ingliston tomorrow and will pick Beau up from my jumping trainer’s on the way back.

It’s just a normal working weekend for the others. Currently got 6 to ride so will be pretty busy.

I’ve tentatively picked out a date for the baby’s dressage outing so fingers x-ed she continues being a star. She’s growing again so a little wobbly but starting to work nicely. I’m super excited about her - just hope I can do her justice :)

Off to a local hunter trial tomorrow. Doing pairs with a friend and then the individual. It feels really good because last time I was there it was my first event with Koko, nervously doing the 60cm, where as this time we are back for the 80cm. Still probably sounds very little but with my dodgy confidence and it being just over 3 months since the last one, it feels like a huge step forward for me.

Well I’m still at 60 and can only dream of getting ready for 80!

I forgot about these and can post again!

Today will be trying to remember what I got taught in my lesson on Monday and putting that into practice. I would have been doing that all week, but came down very suddenly on Tuesday morning with a gastric bug. Been ill ever since and honestly not sure I'm stable enough to ride today, but I'm sure my boy will take care of me.

Sunday I might be brave and go on our first hack out since his surgery. He'll be going with two mares so I'm going he'll just slot in behind them and follow them like a puppy and ignore the scary trees. :p

Just back from a fab day with BD South West at the demo at AM Dressage.

Really interesting day watching horses from 4yo up to GP, and Kira was in the "advanced horses" group :p

Such a fun experience and although K had to show the audience a little bit of her attitude, she pulled her socks up and pranced around the arena in pirouette canter, half steps and tempis like a good un. A really enjoyable day, lots of nice comments from people too.

Polished up and ready to go

I had a good show today - blue loaded first time, we managed to leave 15 minutes early and I managed to get a good stride to every single fence :D

I’d forgotten how big his jump is until he almost jumped me out of the saddle in the warmup. And then over almost every fence during our round ;)
I just love him :)

Beau had just the one down with Trevor but I think he was pleased with how the big guy jumped. It’s nice to have him home again though - the yard was just too quiet without him.

Pics aren’t playing ball for some reason :(

106 days after being kicked at work and breaking my distal femur and ruining my medial collateral ligament, this happened...

I had a little trot and sitting is certainly easier than rising! Back to work soon. We're both clearly unfit and over weight. I was a little cautious to post that photo as you can see my core has just totally gone and I'm lucky I got some new breeches as I don't think I'd fit into my old ones! BUT, all that aside, I'm happy to be building my fitness again and getting back to work.

I don’t normally comment on these posts, just lurk but it’s good to write things down so I can look back and see how we’ve done.

Super pony and son did their first UA novice test today. I was really pleased with them. Son was quite nervous and he was the last test of the day so had quite an audience watching! The test went pretty well. Things to work on- esp the medium trot which we already knew but overall it was pretty good, obedient and accurate if not flashy. They got a very respectable 69.39%.

Tomorrow they’re off to their first ever hunted trial. They are doing the 75cm class. Should all be fine but I’m still a little nervous for them! Son isn’t a jumper at all! However, this summer he’s been doing it just for fun and they’ve had a lovely time. He’s doing pairs with a yard friend who’s about to head off to uni next weekend so will be nice to get out together before she goes.

Well done to everyone else for their achievements today. How did the 60cm Hunter trial go, wimbles?

Millie’s second ever test went well. She won her class on 69.57%
Loaded like a star, travelled brilliantly and was much more settled at the venue, even allowing herself to be tied to the wagon.

I’ve struggled a bit with my lupus over the last couple of weeks, probably flared up by the upset with Diva, and I had a bit of a body-fail in the warmup so after five minutes I could do no more than walk, which wasn’t ideal. Fortunately I’d managed to have a bit of a trot but she was in no way as warmed up or in front of my leg as I wanted. The thought of trying to do a test then was a bit daunting but we headed over. About half way through, I knew I was in trouble and quite how I made it through I don’t know. You know that feeling just before you pass out? I had to just focus on getting to the next marker and then the next...
So I didn’t feel I rode as well as I can, but the video wasn’t too bad at all so I’ve obviously still got the ability to hide it all well, which is half the battle!

Some pics-

Some fabulous updates this week ! Well done rosiesowner , it must feel wonderful to be back on board . Scats , seriously chuffed for you, you deserved that .
Well done MP , part of the advanced demo , how very posh , and a great achievement. What on earth is next for you ? One minute riding for your country and now this . Massive well done .

We’ve had a great weekend . My daughter did a ODE at Smallwood . Just the senior beginner (70cm) she’s had a run of back luck with OdE and hunter trials , from being eliminated in the show jumping to coming off before they even started . Not this weekend , she managed to complete , and think she came about 12th ! Just a lovely day , I’m so proud of her and the lovely Finn

Well done rosiesowner, that must feel soooo good!

Scats - brill news on the win. Very well done indeed, your pics are lovely

We've had a few weeks of not doing much, M wasn't quite right, physio thinks he got cast or fell over as had some very tight deep muscles. So we took it easy and quiet for a few weeks but jumped today for the first time, went XC schooling so we could take our time and no tight turns etc. M went brilliantly and I think is over his slight aversion to skinnies and steps.

asha and wheels, it feels amazing! asha, well done to your daughter, glad she had a good positive outing. and wheels i'm sorry to hear about m but glad he's feeling better!

Dressage went well for Ed and I at the RoR South East Championships with a personal best score at Prelim and a 4th place so I’m happy!

Well done everyone, looks like successful weekends all round.

I had a great time at the Scottish championships - we were second in our warm up and just out the placings in the championship. But most importantly, my wee mare was back to her usual pocket rocket self after our PetPlan flop (so pleased that she’s back to normal).

I also had my first experience of writing, lovely judge and a fab experience. Highly recommend the experience.

Well done especially given the time you’ve had over the last couple of weeks.

It sounds like everyone has had very successful weekends!

We had a really fun time at our competition, placed in every class and come home dressage champion! Who know my little horse and I, who historically don't do well in dressage would place well in all 4 tests we did over the weekend?! I am so proud of us and how far we have come this year.

The judge was super nice and took her time to chat to me after one of our tests, she gave me some very good feedback that I will be applying int he future.

Our jumping went well too, although by our last round on Sunday we were both feeling tired. I pushed myself though and entered a height that scares me. We didn't break any records but we had a go and came out smiling and that's all I can ask for.
