Weekend plans :D

We had a great time (also at Smallwood like Asha) in the 80cm novice class, my dressage score was the worst to date - combination of argumentative horse and brain fuzz! But we went clear in the SJ which was a big improvement on 2 weeks ago. XC was a good start, a slip into one fence meant two refusals at the next... she did the same again a few fences later and we had a third refusal. Silly me not knowing the rules assumed I was eliminated and walked towards the fence judge to check... waste of a good 20 seconds before they checked over the radio that I could carry on.. I still thought I was eliminated but we had a lovely ride over the rest of the course - after the stops I got left behind a little so reins got a little long and arms looked like I was doing the birdy song mid-air.... but we absolutely loved it despite the very big number of penalties we received over all (around 170 I think..!).

Well done ! Just completing is a huge thing . It was a lovely event , everyone was so friendly and helpful . My daughters dressage score wasn’t the best either , but she did get some good comments and found the whole thing great for her and Finns confidence. Seriously well done

Thank you - yep it's given me a ton of confidence, put some more work in over winter and hopefully iron out the things that came out of it that we need more practice on. :)

WOW!! Some amazing updates, RO you look amazing, don't put yourself down! so glad you are back on.

The hunter trial step up to 80cm was a bit mixed. The venue is where I had my accident so it always makes me a bit tense. I right royally naffed up the pairs by getting us eliminated by jumping the wrong fence. Felt so bad for my partner.

It all came as a bit of a shock for me to be honest and I struggled to concentrate on what I was doing whilst looking out for what my partner was doing. I also realised that I do actually have to ride my mare when the fences get bigger and despite going round absolutely fine I felt like a big fat wet lettuce once I had finished and just wanted to call it a day. Luckily the people I was with chivied me along and I thought of my wonderful YO laid up with a broken leg who would love to be out there doing it, I sucked it up and set out round the individual.

I took it steady to give myself time to think and set up so finished 10 seconds over the time but we had a great clear round and I started to enjoy it again. The demons I have are definitely still there but they don't shout quite as loud and I'm starting to get together the tools I need to swat them away.

Good on you Wimbles - you are def on the way to conquering those demons! I have a few of those, so I truly sympathise.

We conquered a few demons this weekend too :-) PC 60 ODE, teeny tiny but chosen deliberately as a training exercise to increase our confidence and experience. We had a very different outing thankfully compared to the last attempt at Munstead, which had us walking sideways very slowly round the xc with me kicking and shouting for all I was worth!

We had a fantastic time and achieved everything I had aimed for and then some. Thanks to a never-to-be-repeated and rather generous dressage score of 15 (best of the day!), the 8 faults sj still meant we came in 2nd, 1 point behind the winner. And the highlight was a clear xc with no napping to speak of. That resulted in a huge grin all the way round (once I felt like we were actually going to get round the course...). It took a lot of prep, lessons, confidence coaching and wotnot to manage this but for the first time I actually had a horse who felt happy to join me on the xc course, so I am unbelievably chuffed.

Oh wow, Wimbles and Bernster, fab progress made! So pleased for you both :)
and I reckon you need to frame that test sheet Bernster ;)

My friend was dressage writing so I reckon she put in a good word for us haha. 9's !!! I am under no illusions that it wasn't really a 15 test, if you know what I mean, but it's still an awesome score and the test did go as well as I could have hoped.

I also did my first ever ODE (well, with the big cob). We went to Bold Heath for their mini ODE on Saturday. We got good dressage, splattered only 3 jumps (we haven't quite mastered getting all four legs over yet) and went clear XC. And most importantly, I loved it and Toby Cob loved it too :D

yep that’s really what it’s about, enjoying it!

Starting to get to grips with the new boy and find out which buttons to press :) Today got his driving harness all sorted so once I have a spare body it'll be to driving work too :)
