Weekend Plans :D

Aston 90 is a lovely easy course and I always think helpful when the SJ is on a surface, less to worry about! Gutted as was hoping to be there with Boggle as his step up to 100 but jockey couldn’t do the date, so he’s in at Munstead instead (in the open to avoid ballot!)

Good luck! Xxx

Amber is barefoot so SJ on a surface is very welcome! I have no idea how she'll be on the other phases but only one way to find out. x

My little pony had a new saddle fitted yesterday so I can finally bring her back into work properly!:D

Saturday - dressage test practice for Rocks and a bit of gentle schooling for Lily
Sunday - weather looks grim so I'm assuming naff all :-(
Monday - we have a group dressage lesson booked with my riding club - will be my first time attending anything with them since i joined recently so looking forward to that and meeting everyone!

Following that I have a sports massage on Tuesday.. I've never had one before but really need these mega knots in my back sorting o_O

Have a great weekend all!!

This evening, our new instructor will be teaching Blue how to lunge properly. She's clearly just been hoolied round on the end of a rope in the past and I'm too inexperienced to really teach her. So, time for the professional to step in!

And I made the mistake of attempting to re-do her hog the other day. It, um, didn't go well. There's an expert coming on Sunday to make her look a bit more presentable.

Hope everyone has a great weekend. We are forecast a storm here so not sure how much I’ll get done. Really need to book my first test of the season, seen as it’s March and I said I’d be back at it around about now. Millie is working incredibly so toying with the idea of just chucking her in a novice test.

Had saddle check today, needed a few minor adjustments.

I have a jump lesson tomorrow with the big cob, and a flat lesson with the little one.

On Sunday I have a couple more lessons, all at home. I will hack both if the weather is acceptable. Although it looks like there might be a race or something on our local bridleway; someone has been up and tied bits of plastic to the trees. There are no signs up though, so no idea if there is a race or what day/time any race might be.

On Tuesday I have a lesson with Darryl Thickett, which I'm really looking forward to. We had one last month which was really good. He got stuck in and we walked out of the arena absolutely dripping 😄

I went to do some jumping today with my YM. Did poles for her horse, then played with some grids / bounces / courses with Captain Carrot :D

She's a sweet little orange, for sure :)

We took son and pony off to do some indoor SJ and they jumped DC in the 50, 60 and 70cm classes... Very pleased.

She did stop and poo about 5 strides away from one of the spreads, but he kept her straight and kicked her on and she jumped it so no faults 🤣🤣

Were not long home, so am hoping for a lie in tomorrow.....

Have fun DC
Fab pics JFTD.
Fiona that's brilliant. My daughter's Welshie once did a wee half way round a course which was fairly mortifying but the commentator found it hilarious.

Scats - Storm Freya is due here too... just in time for the ODE. So could be interesting out there!

I'm just off for a lesson at instructors yard. Feeling a bit lazy as I've just come back from a run but need to get my lazy ass in gear otherwise we will be late! Sitting down on the sofa with a cuppa was a bad idea!! Im sure the pony will be filthy too which will delay me further.

Yay BM! Hope the vetting goes well, you really deserve to catch a break.
Look forward to reading the comp report AEv

Hacked young Artemis out this morning for the first time in 6 weeks and it was just marvellous to be back out again 😁. She was splendid, even marched over the icky bit of road where a stream gushes underneath (she's tended to be a bit 'cat on hot bricks' over there in the past). However, we did find a new thing that she is decidedly suspicious of - human toddlers . Somewhat embarrassing as one particular parent looked disgusted that some stuck up horse was definitely not a fan of their sproglet, ah well, will have to rope in some friends with toddlers to get her used to them 😂
Am letting the side down with no pics though, so will endeavour to get an ears shot tomorrow 😁

Rose is having a very quiet weekend. My physio came and checked her out, she was very sore (T13/14 area), tight in her back and neck generally and not quite level in her hindquarters. Physio spent nearly two hours with massage, manipulation and laser. I feel very very guilty as her behaviour had been slowly changing over the last month and it took me being bucked off to realise that she might be telling me she was in pain. In my defence, it's only been the past couple of weeks that she's been feeling tight and resistent and it was possible to work her through it. although the quality of work was just not there. She had become fidgetty to tack up though. I thought that she'd settled in and was testing boundaries! I think the mega hooley that took place with little fatty might be the cause but it's probably lots of things combined. I am hoping that I now have my Rose back. It's aways difficult to post stuff like this but when you don't know a horse well it is so easy to miss the subtle signs that something is wrong physically and I think she is quite stoical unlike Bisto who let me know immediately if he was not quite right.

Lovely to read all the posts about your comps etc though.

hope you have a great lesson RO :)
Have fun RO!!

Thanks you two, lesson this morning was hard work physically and mentally. I felt a bit rubbish if I'm honest as I just wasn't 'getting it' but cheered up at the end after being a little bit more realistic and chatting with instructor. Can't be perfect every time, and I probably learned more today than in any of our other lessons :)

Too right. I always feel like i get the most out of the lessons where things go a bit rubbish, even though it's more fun when everything goes your way, it's the perfect time for things to unravel because that's when you have the help to sort it out again :) if you have a crap ride when you're on your own, I think that's more depressing.

Back on the competition wagon for Kira today, new venue, new judge and first PSG since November. She got a bit ahead of me in the canter half passes so the changes were rubbish but everything else felt solid and easy. I tried to really keep her thinking super forwards in the warm up like we did with Hayley WG on Tuesday and that really worked even in the test, really chuffed. Some cracking comments and 65% with the mistakes so I think that's a good start for the season.

Not interested in having her photo taken today ;)

I'm sorry, I shall apologise in advance - I need to catch up on everyone else's posts, but I am a bit of a happy emotional wreck right now. We competed today at our first ever regionals. I didn't see a single horse today that was not less than 2 hands bigger than my 14.1 diva pony. She worked in like a dream and pulled out a lovely 65% test. We won't be off to Tokyo any time soon, and we didn't even catch on to the other combination's coat tails, but I am so damned proud of this pony. I bought her at nearly 9 years old. Prior to that she was broken at 6 and driven, culminating in a horrible accident where the pony she was alongside bolted and they and the carriage ended up sprawled across the road. I found that out 18 months after I bought her. After being driven, she was then just hacked and at 8 1/2 began her dressage career. She's quirky, tricky, but safe and I adore every bone of her. Pre Cassie, I had 4 years of Cam going nowhere and retired at 8. Just competing at regionals today has been amazing. Yes, there will be people who may be disappointed at our score, but not me. Love, love, love this little mare. xxx

Oo, I love his action over a fence BM 👍

It’s very different from my other big boys - it’s going to take me a while to get used to how he jumps if I do get to take him home but he’s relatively straightforward otherwise, which is nice. Just needs bringing on, as young horses do.

He nearly unseated me yesterday so I used one of my own saddles with a knee block today and I felt much more secure 😅

Just hoping he passes the vet 🤞🏻

So after yesterday’s (record breaking, in a bad way) high of 39.1C, I managed to hose the ponies and I off and that was it! Planning our move to Siberia... 🙄

Much nicer today so rode both and had fun on a freshly dragged arena 😎

Went to our eventer trial, 75cm, half sj half xc (including a horrible double of offset fences, buzz has never seen anything like that before, nor have I!) It was a big class of 21.....we came 6th!!! So so pleased with him, there was only 7 or so double clears (including mine 😁😁😁) I was so happy. Had to wait around for ages because I wanted to watch a friend in the class before (which didn't happen, long story!) So I thought I'd have to wake him up a bit but he was amazing.
Our "style" marks let us down as he was very looky but I don't even care, just wanted to get round 😅 and over everything!
I'll try and get a vid up later. Had two comments about how lovely he is from the commentator and the steward, he really is!

Well done chippers , that fabulous. Will look forward to the photos . Exciting news BM , fingers crossed for the vetting.

We had a fab weekend, Aria did the 1m class and jumped fabulous, just a spook at the last fence as it was on the wall next to the warm up , then she went in the 1.05, he biggest track she’s done so far and flew round, she just got tired towards the end and had a pole but jumped superb. Today daughter and I went dressaging . First class my daughter came 2nd , and I came 4th ! Proper chuffed . Then second class I beat my daughter, but no placing, but I did get me best score ever a respectable 66.37% with some lovely comments from the judge . No photos of the Irish draughts as we where both on board. But a couple of shots of Aria . So proud of her 1C414996-44F3-454B-B799-04E5BD64A8EC.jpeg415130AD-53B5-4C0D-9469-CBF94AA5C58C.jpeg
