Weekend plans :D

Get well soon scats - I wanted to 'like' your post but thought that wasn't quite the right sentiment!

We had a cracking start to the weekend with a quick jaunt round the block and canter along the cliff tops after [PhD] work (I snuck out early). I tried to film it but M was a bit keen so most of it is just mane :p.

I've had a fraught few weeks with life getting in the way, so looking forward to a rare Saturday off, followed by the branch AGM for my local endurance group, which this year includes CPR training. Sunday will be another riding day, and hopefully a trip to the gallops!

Dae was having a lovely time popping little fences today :D

Omg NAUGHTY boggle. Sweated up on journey and came off lorry like an absolute dragon. Quite amusing to watch the excitement literally drop off his face when he realised it wasn’t hunting. A respectable 3rd in prelim and 5th in his first novice, not bad for a pony whose only really hunting a lot of the time! His sharer rode him beautifully.

Very very wet though!

Well, Raz forgot how to do his changes in the first test - only got one out of four and we fluffed the pirouettes so we got a rubbish score. we were the only ones in it so we got a red ribbon as a consolation prize 🙈

He then pulled it out the bag with a win in the medium silver, and the medium overall. Not quite sure how. Pirouettes let us down again so think i’ll be asking if we can Concentrate on them for a bit.

The rain here today has been biblical, at least 50mm.....

Thankfully junior league SJ was inside, and F had a lovely time. Double clear in 70cm, though unfortunately a slow time as he forgot his course. They were 3rd in the team 😀

I didn't even put the other two out 😭😭

Tomorrow's WH is already cancelled, so we will just ride at home I guess :(

Michen, he must have been so disappointed!

He was for a bit but then decided to direct his enthusiasm to dressage 🙈. We are off to Moundsmere tomorrow for their half meet (lines got cancelled as ground too wet) so all will be forgiven.

Not a nice day at all!! I managed to get my lot out for a couple of hours in the evening. This morning all that rain has frozen so mucking out and moving the wheelbarrow about this morning was interesting lol

It rained here right through to about 8, and must have frozen pretty soon after that....

Hateful weather for a weekend 😭😭

Bit of a full on weekend but glad to be mainly indoors yesterday at YHL. Usually I go just to keep OH company and have a wander about but yesterday I psyched myself up to do actual shopping  Been cursing my gatehouse hat for months as it gives me a headache so a new hat was on the cards, and I also promised myself an advance on the lorry sale money, to buy some cordless clippers. Been holding off clipping Darcy as I just can't stand getting a facefull of hair from my old Mustangs. Has only taken me 3 years to take the plunge.
And then big big spends, signed up to do my HGV training and test (subject to theory this week, eeep:oops:). Beans on toast until after christmas now!

Had a nice evening in the hotel at Stoneleigh chinwagging and then home in the sunshine to ride this afternoon :)

I failed riding yesterday and today :(. The weather was vile Saturday so I really couldn’t be bothered and today was one of those days! I went up to the yard bright and early intending to clip and then ride but Maddie was a mental pain in the arse to (badly) clip and I just couldn’t face riding by the time I was done.
If I have to clip again this winter I’m buying cordless clippers, the sight of the wire today led to umpteen meltdowns that I could have done without.
As my long suffering YO commented - you never know which Maddie you’re getting on any given day! I love her but could do without the extra Welshness sometimes 🙃.

That all sounds exciting! Which hat and clippers did you go for?

I'm actually looking forward to clipping now! I had one winter of cordless ones a while back and it was life changing, at the time it was Millie that was the victim and she views coat growing as an olympic sport, but is prone to getting a bit daft 20 mins in.
Kira is a saint to clip but it's just going to be so much more convenient, and also not having those old fangled things blowing the hair around will be wonderful. And I've gone for some with a variable speed which hopefully will be nice for Mr Sensitive ;) Liveryman Black Beauty, they come with a mains adapter so you can plug in if you get carried away but the battery is supposed to last for 3 or 4 horses (depends how fast you are ;) )
they do a decent looking trimmer which also plugs into the same battery so I will eventually replace my elderly Lister trimmers too.

I've stuck with Liveryman because I will keep the old faithfuls as a back up just in case. They are basically worthless but they are workhorses so silly to sell them for peanuts. and then all my blades are interchangeable.

Charles Owen Ayrbrush is the hat, definitely a better shape and has a removable liner etc.

I did 4 hours scribing for a dressage judge today. Entries were relatively low which meant we saw all sorts of classes from novice to advanced medium. It was very interesting, got lots of tips, some good insight and a good giggle at times too (not at competitors, the judge was just good craic!)

Sums boggle and I up really. Such a great day and got my jumping bug back! Hysterical prof photos to follow at some point, I screamed over a tiny hedge and pretty sure you could have driven a tractor between my legs and the saddle.

Also had semi success with a Dutch gag, still very strong but he seems much happier in it than the pelham and I could bring him back more for fences 0C8EE9D2-8EF8-4280-A980-578A404C483F.jpeg

Took Blue out hacking today, and the plan was for a nice, sedate canter. Unfortunately, Blue wanted to gallop, and bucked me off when I wouldn't let her. I'm not sure whether she's just feeling extremely fresh, or if there's some pain going on, so she's already booked in for the physio and I'm going to get the saddle fitter out.

Saturday was cold, dark, wet and windy and even when it had stopped raining I had absolutely zero desire to ride. I even had depressing thoughts going through my head like "I'm obviously too old to do this now!" This morning looked to be just the same but when I had finished the boxes and the field the sun came out and guess what....... i felt like riding! Took retired pony lead and ride with companion round the lanes in the sunshine, ears pricked and all happy. What a difference a day makes. Do hope some others were just as satisfied with events.

Sounds like some of you got horrific weather.
Yesterday, I had sunshine for our first show, so that’s in the bag with all the key boxes ticked. Warmed up nicely and coped with being cut up (was particularly bad yesterday for some reason). Very tense in the arena, but stayed obedient so I’m happy.
Today was a bit wetter but managed to help my friend move yards, which went smoothly.
