Eek, a month in and nothing to show.
However I'm starting early, as we managed a proper, rather wet, hack before work today. Its the most exciting thing we've done in weeks!
Supercob was lovely and forward but very spooky, its been a couple of weeks since we did anything other than a walk round the local estate really so everything was NEW and never before seen ?
I love it when hes jolly like that and a bit on his toes.

ummmmmm...... oh yeah, a big load of nothing again!
will attempt to ride her ladyship again. we have new matchy to do some indoor hacking in. Forecast looks awful but if we get a dry spell there will be walkies as well.
Prob have some equipilates to catch up on too, i run out of time in the week.

and cuddles with the tiddlers, if its as wet as forecast then I don't reckon I'll be poo picking but they both love a cwtch ;)

Pfft Jan is dragging and this week even more so! Getting cabin fever and yard was snowed in so haven’t been down for a while. Did get to have my lesson yesterday yay. Am planning on getting back into jumping to make the most of lock down and try not to feel so rusty when we’re back out again. Will do poles whilst it’s dark and move on with jumps as the nights get lighter.

Bit disappointed at my online dressage score 59.81 but it’s my first novice, first test for ages, and the comments were fair and expected. So I shall be flipping between feeling like we can’t do it, to focussing on what we need to do to improve. Will have a crack at the Feb one and see how we go. It gives me something to aim for.

Hopefully hacking this weekend if it doesn’t snow.

Well thats mostly positive Bernster, have you had your sheet? I always feel a bit happier with a test with a few low marks than one thats just generally not great. And 59.81 is only a smidge off 60 so you're not far away at all.
Whats the new matchy MP? We will be needing pics of that! Loving the snowy babies
Hacked this morning, hacking again tomorrow and Saturday.
Sunday's forecast looks blooming wet tho.
Envious of those who have on site arenas*.

*stamps feet, I really want to use an arena, even tho I usually hate the things!
Technically we have an arena, its saturated, very deep going, uneven in places and approximately a 23m square. I don't use it unless its dry, I think its unreasonable to expect a horse to work well in it, supercob hates it - back up from the minute we go in, and I certainly won't pay for a lesson in it.

snaffled one of the Klawunde Esky Graffiti pads :) OH had challenged me to sell some things on ebay that he was throwing away, he didn't think they would sell, he was wrong so I got to pocket the £ :D seemed like the ideal thing to spend free money on. (I'm very bad at adulting, but in my defense, I had just spent my birthday money on K's transport to horspital so, you know, the universe owed me).

I have a wonderful arena, NGL, the stuff of my horsey dreams :p just bloody typical that horse broke this winter.

Thx Roxy. Yes I got the sheet and I can’t argue with any of what was said! The walk marks really hampered us in the score and the collective, which the judge noted. Did some work on it in my lesson last night - I kind of know what to do but am ring/test rusty so more work needed! It’s frustrating as we do some decent work in our lessons but I’m not so good at translating that into a test environment. (She says after having done one test ?!)

It‘s pretty much all 6s, the odd 7, but a 4 for the walk and 5.5 for the wonky final centre line. Accuracy - no excuse for not being accurate!

Last few weekends have been dire weather wise - too icy to do much at all and now more snow is forecast for this weekend! If I can I will be hacking out my young horse as she is now at the end of week 3 of her return-to-work walking schedule! :) We do tiddly bits of trot to get out of the way of the odd vehicle and that is all feeling good but she has been a bit too lively for me to want to ask for just a few strides of canter yet...!! Older horse will also hack out - he is being a bit of a sod though, very polite and biddable UNTIL he decides that taking hold is how he wants it to be...He needs more work but the weather has not been our friend.

Rose had a couple of days off as S wasn't well so yesterday I gave her a bath as she's had some itchy spots which I can't seem to get rid of completely. No-one else on the yard so I was enjoying some nice horsey time with her. I moved her from the wash box to the solarium (I know we are totally spoilt) and she managed to break her very old leather head collar. so I had a loose horse and nothing to secure her with. I had visions of someone arriving and finding me chasing a wet Rose round the indoor school which would have been very embarrassing. anyway I managed to fashion something to keep her in the solarium whilst I rushed to the tack room for her bridle but one job this weekend will be ordering a new head collar, any suggestions?
She has a lesson with Peter tomorrow, Saturday off and some polework on Sunday. Monday she's being schooled early then a session with the physio. Tuesday she's being shod and Wednesday I am having her looked over by the "lameness" vet who comes regularly for maintenance of the yard owner's horses. Rose looks and feels sound enough but the work has really stepped up and I just want to be sure she's totally comfortable. Fingers crossed she gets the all clear!
Have a good weekend and don't get swept away by the rain.

Very little planned really, the weather looks to be pants again so probably staying in the house next to the fire as much as possible.

I'm filming an e-riders test tonight as our team have qualified for the finals. Decided to try and be competitive so am going for the novice for the finals test, and I'll look to do our 2nd elementary for Feb individual tests (though currently unsure which test it is). We have some homework from super instructor to work on, so I'll plug slowly away at that and probably try to have a small jump at some point.

I could pretty much copy and paste my plans from last week seeing as my Sunday activities were postponed a week due to snow! Hopefully the weather is a bit kinder this weekend, although there is sleet / snow forecast for Saturday...

I'll do my usually Friday lunchtime mooching hack with a friend, a gentle school on Saturday and dressage lesson on Sunday. We've gone from having right canter transition issues last month to left canter transition issues now! I guess it's progress of sorts...

Been quiet as had my dressage saddle which is my main use saddle overhauled so had a short time off. Had a lovely hack yesterday, hopefully manage one tomorrow and then see what the weather is like over the weekend and if pleasant (as in rain fine, not gale force winds) may hack or could look at doing some in hand pole exercises as school is pretty soggy at present. I am definitely not one of those who is going to come out at a level higher than we were before lockdown! Will try to build in some pamper time for a tail wash etc.

*Drumroll*....... hacking!

I only got to ride once last week because of the snow. It looks pretty rainy this weekend and I'm hoping we won't get too soaked. It would be good to get a bit more riding in if I can. Was so pleased with our solo hack last week - no pressure or drama, just a nice ride out chatting to share horse and saying hello to walkers.

I've started to think about whether I want to go back in the school soon but will give it a bit longer as want to make sure I'm feeling properly ready. Maybe when the weather is better!

Nothing much exciting here (as usual recently!) hoping to hack Saturday, as weather is forecast to be not too dire. My parents are coming to visit for a couple of days on Saturday evening, so will probably take advantage of the extra set of hands to either jump (yay for not having to get off to pick up poles or adjust heights!) or have a play with trying to film an online dressage test on Sunday...

Well, it's hot here again! So not a lot of anything except hacking. After Tuesday Coolie thinks he is number one horse again so I expect we will be bouncing around full of enthusiasm. Henry is feeling so much better, hopefully I will be able to get back on board but until then he is just being lunged to help keep him loose.

Maybe next weekend will be more exciting!

It's been pouring rain for 2 days here. 19C and everything and every horse is soaked. Makes up for our one and only heat wave last week.
Anyway, providing it dries up a bit on the weekend I am hoping to school L both days and properly back and ride the young one away (kidnapping a friend for that, yay!).

Hope everyone has a relatively dry and snow free-er weekend :)

Apart fom moving fencing nothing much horsewise but our new shed arrived today so it will be a weekend job to build it. Possibly in snow which will be interesting. Trouble is I have a full greenhouse (just a little lean to) to take down and move as it is where the shed is going. Plants will need protection so a move into the house or shed might be in order for the smaller ones panic for the bigger ones

Hmm nothing much different to last weekend here, a bit of road hacking and some schooling if i can find some less wet ground in the fields :-(
baby Ollie has a trim with the farrier today, so I will go up at lunchtime for that and spend a bit of time with him in the daylight - instead of pitch black early mornings
Roll on spring, less mud and hopefully an end to lockdown !!

Hack number one done. The sun came out!! Usual companions didn't make it out with us today so went with a different companion pair. I'd love to just be able to go out with whoever and it not be a 'thing' but it feels important to stay in or reasonably close to my comfort zone. I want to build up lots of good experiences to help my confidence. Share horse was good, stayed sensible (if a little more active in trot, likely a good thing!) and he had a lovely stretch on the way back. I do wish I was braver, and it didn't matter who I went out with, but I'm not and want to do all I can not to set myself and share horse up to fail.

I got some positive feedback on my ground handling of share horse today which I'm pleased about as there were the odd points near the beginning when I wanted to cry with frustration! He has certainly taught me a lot ?

Hacking I hope, depending on the weather. Sheep have moved to the back fields so we’ve got more riding back.
I was in the day surgery unit this morning having a bladder procedure, thankfully just with local anaesthetic, but I felt ok to have a 20 minute hack late afternoon to check the sheep are all ok and to give Millie a stretch. The ground is just sopping wet again, it’s horrid.
Still rather ouchy to go to the loo tonight, but hoping that will calm down!

Supposed to snow again tomorrow so not a lot probably. Have early finish on Fridays so managed to dive out on a hack this afternoon as am anticipating becoming yard bound again tomorrow... humph ?

Might order some letters and white boards and have a go at one of these online dressage thingies.

I wonder how much it would be to put a roof on the arena and how hard I would be laughed out of the room by the planning people ?

Anyway, pics from this week for interest (showing nicely the weather ups and downs at the moment):
